2.x didnt support sort order tags
The sort tags are strictly for sorting and will not display in the list. The regular album artist tag will be what is displayed. If your album are various artist then you should just set the album artist tag as Various Artist

no need to be a dick dude especially since im clearly trying to help. i could have chose to simply ignore you, but i didnt
not sure why you cannot generate an error report.. you click the button and you get a popup to send by email.... nothing difficult about it

copy the contents of /storage/gmmp/playlists over to the same location on the new device. if the new devices folder structure is the same then there is no issue. If the device has a different sdcard the ID/path of the sdcard would be different but that can be fixed with a simple find/replace all using a text editor

sorry.. and if you have both installed (classic and 3.0). sending an error report from 3.0 would help as well so i can compare the 2
3.0 is a complete rewrite so teh code bases are different. The scanner itself works pretty similar, but its not the same code

thanks for the feedback. A bunch of what you are asking for i do have planned
Keep in mind that UI wise I am mostly limited to what the android tv libraries provide (leanback library). I've tried to leverage them as best as i can to get the desired effect i wanted but they have their limits. A simple example would be to get the whole guide to move as one (all the channels). Google provides nothing that can achieve that without writing a completely custom solution (which can be very time consuming).
I plan to pick up development on quasitv sometime soon as i scale back development on my other app which i recently just released massive update to. Once the bugs in that go down i can focus more on this app

send in your database from classic (general -> send database) and if you happen to know some specific album that doesnt get scanned in 3.0.7 let me know
classic and the regular are separate apps now so you cant upgrade classic to the current (different packages)

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to include a feature to group singles together in some way, when browsing the albums of some artist. If an artist has e.g. 5 albums and 10 singles, every single takes up an album entry, making it look cluttered. I would love to have a feature to somehow group these singles, for example all together in some pseudo-"album" called "Singles", or even better, in a completely different tab, just like we have the ability to change between all albums or tracks by an artist. One way to check for singles could be to just assume that every album with 1 track is a single, but while usually true, it doesn't hold in all cases (e.g. Sleep - Dopesmoker or Microphones in 2020), while some singles have a b-side and thus consist of two tracks. A more useful way would thus be to perhaps look for some metadata tag that specifies whether the album is in fact a single and not a full-length. you could use the album filtering to at least remove singles from the album list. The songs would still show up in the song list for the given artist

enqueuing/playing an album artist is going to use the sort order used when you click on the album artist and look at the songs tab. The sort order of the songs is the order it will play/enqueue. Well, I set the Songs tab under Album Artist to sort by Album with modifier Use Sort Tags, and that list displays as expected. However, when I enqueue the artist from the context menu in the Album Artist list it still enqueues by album as if modifier None is selected (alphabetically, not by sort tag.). yea the sort modifiers only apply to how things are viewed in the list currently.. i'll add a note to the bug list

Enqueuing an Album Artist doesn't follow the Album sorting selection below Album Artist. I have my Album Artist view set to sort by Album Artist with modifier Use Sort Tags. When I drill down into an Album Artist, I have the underlying Albums view set to sort by Album with modifier Use Sort Tags. If I enqueue an Album Artist (to play all albums by that artist), the albums are added to the queue as if modifier None is selected (i.e., strictly alphabetically by album name, not using sort tags). This seems incorrect, and I can find no workaround other than enqueuing albums manually one at a time. GMMP v3.0.7 enqueuing/playing an album artist is going to use the sort order used when you click on the album artist and look at the songs tab. The sort order of the songs is the order it will play/enqueue.

turn off "broadcast album art" in the advanced general settings. just be aware that album art may not show up in other places like android auto. GMMP populates it in a single place and then various external sources use it, like the lockscreen on some devices (stock android doesnt show art on the lockscreen)

"Settings > General > Broadcast Album Art"
Yup that would have done it. android auto gets its playing information from the mediasession (same with a lot of other things grab the info from there). Disabling album art wont allow auto to get the art anymore.
Broadcast metadata is mostly legacy but some things may look for it. It just sends intents with the playing info
Glad you figured it out!
