If playback stops shortly after turning off your display, that is because android is killing the app. The website below has a lot of workarounds on how to disable the "battery saver" / "battery optimizations" that cause gonemad to get killed. I bring this up now because apparently samsung's newer update are super aggressive, and being the most popular android manufacturer I am guessing there are going to be a lot of questions asking why their music is stopping dontkillmyapp.com/samsungdontkillmyapp.com/

android 9. un-selected the nomedia tick box. removed scan path. let it find its own path and now all working. thanks was most likely the nomedia option then.

has your phone updated to android 11 in the last week or so? Android 11 on some devices (or well just nokia 8.3 that i know of so far) is aggressively killing the scanner after like 40 seconds which doesnt allow it to pick up any more tracks (there is another thread on the forums talking about that). I ask this because 3.0.6 only had some very minor changes that wouldnt cause this issue.
"if i point it to the folder where i have 13939 tracks it might find 3000"
I take it you means you are setting your scan paths to the folder in the advanced scanner settings? Did you try turning off the "ignore folders with .nomedia" setting? That would at least rule out there being a nomedia file somewhere causing the scanner to skip it

been dealing with this over email.. but i wanted to post to see if anyone else still had the issue?
In wicky's case his device is killing the scanner after about 40 seconds (which i find quite ridiculous.. stock android gives 8-10 minutes at least)

"I wonder if this is an instance of this bug: trello.com/c/zP7zL8FB/1153-files-scanned-too-soon" yeah thats the same issue. It seems to happen when transferring over wifi / not a usb. Its higher on my priority list. Deleting the database should definitely pick them up tho. You can save settings and stats via the backup/restore feature which should be under the general settings, so if you do have to do the work around you should be able to reconfigure everything again in a second by restoring the backup Logs doesnt require root. Just have to use the android bug report. gonemadmusicplayer.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-to-get-logcat-system-log-to-help.htmlI'd say if you were going to grab logs, do it right after the wifi transfer and you see the songs in gmmp without the tags. The logs roll over somewhat quickly which is why its important to generate them soon after reproducing the issue

"Is the build of the app so strictly tag depended?" Yes. That's how the app was designed. I gave you a few options, including one that auto tags all your music picard.musicbrainz.org/"Don't get me wrong,i know how time consuming programming is,but in the end its not a free app and nowhere in the playstore app description is mentioned that the app is so tag depended to display the correct artwork.. (or no artwork where no artwork can be found)" There is a free 2 week trial where users can make sure it meets their needs before purchasing. I dont work on this app for a living (would be the equivalent of making well under minimum wage if i did) and cannot cater to every single user request.. especially ones that would require a change in design that i dont agree with.

can't you just make the player display a generic image when no artwork is found? your problem is your music is being grouped into albums with other music with artwork since they arent tagged and in the same folder. Now playing shows the artwork of the associated album. If an album has no artwork, then now playing will just not show any art
