As I said I sent you an error report about an hour ago. Either way, here is my settings.xml, if it makes it easier for you.
I'm installing Shuttle as I'm writing this.

In Shuttle about 10% of the skips fail at updating the notification. It's not as bad as the 3.3.4 and 3.3.5 beta but still far from perfect.
Keep in mind that I could only test Shuttle with around 160 files as it uses the internal library in Android which I don't use for music files and so I had to copy a few files to a new folder. And it also can't see my sd card for whatever reason.

Well, the new metadata updater is not working. I started a new "shuffle all tracks" session and skipped a few songs and it always shows the previous track in the notification, not the current one. Exactly the same here on my Samsung S10e. I also tried PowerAmp (from which I switched to GoneMad *years* ago) and it does not display the issue -- so whatever Samsung broke with their Android 12 update doesn't impact every media app. I'm not going to even consider switching, though -- GoneMad's feature set and customizability win the day, and I haven't ever looked back. This is a small issue, but given that 95% of my phone listening is when out walking, exercising, doing yardwork, etc...the lock screen notification is used an awful lot and this is an annoyance for sure.

Do you have crossfade disabled as well? That might be the culprit

UPDATE: initial testing with a bunch or skips from the lock screen control (in shuffle mode) does seem to always pick up the correct track into to display.

I tried replicating myself with no crossfade and couldn't. Crossfade off definitely has a diff code path that might trigger the notification update before actually updating the track, so it is a path I will investigate

I tried enabling crossfade and it indeed makes a difference. I'd say with it enabled it's about the same as Shuttle. But still not perfect.

does toggling play/pause refresh the notification and show the correct playing info?
