Hello. First of all - thanks for the great app. Its ability to read folders and most file types as well as windows-like interface with great customizing options make this app best to me. I was so happy to find it. Thanks again!!! Generally, have only one request... and few more Please. Make the “Back” button EXIT the player completely, even if it’s playing. Back button must exit the app, otherwise, there are different lags appear, like automatic music start etc To minimize the player, but still keep it alive, there’s a home button on any android device. Back button should exit the app completely. Please. Staying in memory all the time is the greatest con of the app. Few more suggestions In file browser, if you scroll down the list, the “up” button disappears. Would be nice if “up” button always remained on the same position and was always visible Also, a separate button in the main window which would take you straight too the root folder would be great. Like “browser” button, only, it would take you right to the root folder Also a gesture could be added for the “root folder” option (like in Meridian player) Not all Bluetooth headsets are supported to skip within the tracks (actually, only 1 of my 5 headsets works ok). I believe that might be because there is no option to choose a “long press forward/backward”. In that case Bluetooth headsets might be adjusted more properly. “Double-click backward/forward” option would be good, too. Some tags are not readable. Some Russian tags have strange symbols instead of letters, and some English tags are missing completely sometimes

Use menu -> exit or enable the music service timeout (prefs -> general -> music service timeout) if you want the app to unload from memory. Regardless the OS will kill the app if it needs the memory
"Also, a separate button in the main window which would take you straight too the root folder would be great. Like “browser” button, only, it would take you right to the root folder"
If you hit the browser button twice it takes you to the root, or you can turn off prefs -> library -> file browser -> start in playing folder. That will always start the browser in the root
Headset support is 100% dependent on the operating system, when a button is pressed a message is broadcast which is what gmmp listens for. It does not directly interface with the bluetooth device.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the long press / double click...
There is pref -> general -> headset -> single button mode / actions that let you set double/triple click/click and hold
As for any tags reading correctly... they are probably not encoded in UTF which is the only supported text encoding. You will probably have to retag them to get them to work. IF you want to email (gonemadsoftware@gmail.com) some of the files that you say have missing tags I can take a look at them. There are many horribly tagged music files out there that do not conform to the id3 spec at all and its really to account for that without having files to test against

Hi, I second Gregory's request "In file browser, if you scroll down the list, the “up” button disappears. Would be nice if “up” button always remained on the same position and was always visible". Often I scroll down the folder to check it's contents, and then decide to go to the parent folder, but in order to do so, I have to scroll all the way to the top of the folder to get to the "Up" button". Haven't it always displayed would be great. Thanks, -Viper21

Thanks for reply!! Checked the suggestions. 1. Using menu -> exit does not really satisfy, cause sometimes you just need to stop (or to kill the music service) fast. Other players support exiting on exit button, so, I thought that wouldn't be a problem. As for now, the exit and home buttons do same, just minimizing the app. As for time-out service, I wouldn't like the player to be off by itself at all... I wonder if maybe the option of "exiting on exit button" could be added? Is that hard to implement?.. 2. "If you hit the browser button twice it takes you to the root", yes I do so now, thing is that sometimes there's kind of lag (time pause) when doing so, so I was hoping for a "root only" button. Tried the "always start the browser in the root" option but then there's no simple way to access the current playing folder view cause you always get to the root. 3. "long press / double click" is the same as for single-click mode, only, for a normal mode. Like an option for "long press forward", "double click forward". Such an option can be found on Mort Player, for example (which I was using for a long time but chose GMPlayer instead, also because of complicated Mort interface) 4. "the back button takes you back up a level too" I know it I just find it to be more convenient to always use the player's "up" button instead of the devices back button, because of button locations ("up" button is right under the "browser" button, upper left corner, while back button is lower left, on big devices you really have to move your hand a lot if you switch from "up" to "back"). Changing all the skins is not fun I agree... I wonder if I could change that skin that I use by myself, like, using apk tool or something. Or that's not so easy?.. Sorry my English, thanks again for replies! P.S. emailed a file with an unreadable tag...

Sorry my English, thanks again for replies! P.S. emailed a file with an unreadable tag... I can add an option to quit on back. What player actually stops playback and exits completely when you back out of it tho? Every single one i've tried keeps the music playing and just exits the UI.. its not a common practice in android players 2) any lag (i've never experienced lag on the 45 test devices i've tested the browser on when going to root.. do you have a slow sdcard?) you get from hitting the browser button twice (if you are already viewing the browser you only have to hit the button one more time to go to root) to go to root is going to be there if there is a seperate gesture or button. If you werent aware, long press in now playing brings up the jump to playing menu by default.. which can take you straight to the playing folder 3) i can look into it.. customizing the media button actions is a relatively new feature 4) you can modify skins with apktool but as it is now making the back button static just wouldnt work.. its programatically added to the top of the list

Hi, Sorry my late reply - work... I appreciate your answers 1) Yes, please, make such option! Would be so nice. Actually, many players I tried before GM had it. Like the mentioned already Mort - one press of a back button takes you back to the system with the player completely killed (so next time you run the player it starts with default volume, for example) 2) What is "long press in now playing"? I can only see "playing" button but long press on t doesn't give me any result... 3) That would be cool! Again, this feature is in Mort. 4) I see Well... yeah... Thanks for replies, and sorry again my delay

Anywhere in the now playing screen where you would do a swipe gesture. A long press is a gesture that by default brings up the "Jump to Playing" dialog. This lets you jump to the playing artist, album, genre, or folder

Ok, found it. Thanks. I set to "full screen" option. Actually I was thinking that would be nice to have separate "root folder" and let's say "previous (or upper) folder" buttons in "now playing" menu. So that one button took you to the root folder instantly, and second button took you gradually up (upper folder-upper folder-upper folder. Like Windows "up" button in Windows Explorer) Well that's just some desire to make player easier to control. In old time, I had "hardware buttons" mp3 player which I can fully control without getting it out of the pocket I guess here's some similar wish. But would be real convenient, what you think??

If you are in the file browser, and click on the file browser tab again it brings you back to the root. I try to avoid cluttering up the UI with buttons that only a select group of the userbase would use
exiting with the back button was added in the newest version on google play. I still havent updated amazon or the direct links on my blog yet

Thanks for the back button exit!!!!!!
I am sorry I didn't write it earlier. Was on vacation, and some minor troubles...
But I really appreciate your help!! Thanks a lot, using the player became much easier for me.
I would like to ask couple more questions.
1 Is there any setting to make the volume level get to the same level each time the player starts? Like, 50%. So each time I open the player (after exiting it with back button) it starts playing t 50% volume level? 2 Is there any setting to make the skip interval more than 5 sec.? I think those settings might be somewhere but cannot find them. Bout question one, found some similar but it doesn't seem to set the volume on start...
And also ,what is the difference between "recently added" and "recently played" in smart tab? I find different songs there, I think some of them are missing in "recently played". A bit confusing to me, I'd prefer one option for all the recent songs, either added or played. The feature itself is great! just wonder why different songs in two folders. Can I leave only one?
Thanks for all your work, I really appreciate it. Hope you have a minute to reply,
Regards,
Gregory

1) There is nothing to set the volume when starting the app but you can set the volume when changing between bluetooth/headset/speakers (prefs -> audio -> auto volume adjust)
2) prefs -> audio -> playback -> seek time
Recently added is any song scanned in to the GMMP database in the last 14 days (i think its 14). Recently played is songs you have played in the last 14 days. If you long press the smart playlist and select edit you can see the rules. You can also create your own smart playlists by going to menu -> new from the smart playlist tab. If you dont want one of them you can just delete it. Those are just ones i predefined

Thanks!! " There is nothing to set the volume when starting the app" Yes that's exactly what I want Volume adjust on app start. Is it impossible to add such option? Couple more things. App got new icon, which I'm ok with - only, I wish I could change it's color. Since I got root, I put red (Red skin's) icon on desktop, but I guess if you prefer blue I can't convince you But how about the "album art" in the player? Gray icon seem too gloomy... previous "visualizer" was more fun... Maybe, change colors of that default album art icon at least? One more thing. Is it possible to add an option to switch to previous track - from first track of an album to last one, pressing back button (for example track 1 - back button - track 12, last on album). Right now, on pressing back button you can only get to the beginning of album's first track, but not to album's end Also, you sometimes mention the coming "big 1.5 update" I only have one request about it - please, do not change the interface!!! It's so good now, with all the folders, and options, and layout. Sometimes developers kill the app with interface change, so... I wanted to mention it The only interface change I wuld be happy about is the one I wrote previously - is to keep "UP" button on its place (so it doesn't disappear when you swipe down the titles). Ideally, I still wish there was two buttons - one would be called "Root" and took you straight to music database root, and one would be called "Up". And took you just up one level They both could reside in the "tag" area (upper panel), where they would be easily reachable. That would make kind of "explorer style" navigation available right away at any folder, easy... Thanks!!

the default album art is not going to change but someone did suggest to allow the user to define the image used for the default album art.. which i like. As for the icon.. yea i was going to suggest using one of the skins icons.. and you dont need root to do that.. most launchers like nova or apex will let you change the icon without root
adjusting the volume on startup is doable and i can add it to the feature request list.. but what defines startup? Is this when the UI is opened with no music playing? Is it when the music service is first started?
"One more thing. I can add that to the request list
1.5 isnt changing much visually with the UI.. most of the UI work is behind the scenes. 2.0 will change around the interface but I plan on leaving an option to use the current UI.
As for the browser if you click the browser tab when already the browser it brings you to the root
