Hello, can you add a sync option with google account for settings and (or) other data?

Could it make the backup automatic? for example every time the settings are modified and / or every so often and creating multiple files in case you mistakenly delete the database or something.

The current backup restore is all I have planned. My dev time is better spent working on capabilities that would benefit the majority of the userbase instead of a select few

Ok friend, I have many ideas, maybe one of them can accept it.

Not sure if you prefer new posts or super necro posts, but I saw your response to automatic backup and just wanted to ping if that was still the situation. Using GMMP with MusicBee wifi sync so I can keep them working together, it's not end of the world to manually backup before syncing but given that if I ever sync I'd obviously want to backup the settings... would be nice if I could just have it always update the backup or something like that.

Looking at this from the other side, what if I make a change inadvertently that overwrites my previous backup when done automatically? Then when I go back to my expected “good” backup, it is no longer what it should be. I would think it is safer to run a backup occasionally when you know things are stable, rather than this proposed auto feature. My 2cents at least.

Then when I go back to my expected “good” backup, it is no longer what it should be. I would think it is safer to run a backup occasionally when you know things are stable, rather than this proposed auto feature. My 2cents at least. I suppose, but I feel it's an extra step I don't need. Maybe other people need it. Also maybe it'll cause other people problems, major problems perhaps, in which it's not worth it for them as now they've no safety net. But for example when I put files into my phone for GMMP, via MB, I don't have to 'back up' my music prior to sending it to the phone. Having to 'back up' would be annoying, but possible. When having GMMP give my MB the changes I've done in GMMP I would naturally like the same relationship. For others backup is likely useful for other things, which I get. But for me backing up is merely a means to an ends of keeping my MB updated. If the MB app somehow just read right from the app's live data (rather than the backup) I would have been fine with that too, though either GMMP doesn't provide the possibility of that info (without making a backup) or the creator of the MB sync app didn't use it. As an example the PowerAmp app doesn't require this manual interaction, so the MB sync app is able to simply grab the changes and run with them. Like I said I guess it's not end of the world, but assuming I update my library nearly once a day that's a few hundred extra clicks each year that I didn't really feel I wanted to have. (Though I understand perhaps for other people they use the backup for other reasons, I literally only care about it because I want to get my ratings and playcount back into my computer library).

@gonemad does MusicBee have access to ratings and play counts from GMMP without having to run a manual backup? I thought the dev of that Windows app had reached out to get some support about this in the past.

I had gave the dev all the info on how to do that

no plans on auto backup. Use something like tasker to trigger the backup intents (but im pretty sure musicbee sync should be able to trigger it as well)
