Lineage os + gmmp on my nexus 7 (grouper) is plagued by annoying crackling on certain tracks. I've been told this has something to do with sampling rate conversion done by the android's internal audio stack (or whatever it is called). reportedly usb audio pro is immune to this thanks to its ability to bypass that, but I am partial to gmmp for the superior UI. Any chance this could be addressed in future updates? If that means a paid add-on of a sort, I would gladly pay for it!

proper resampling should not cause any crackling (gmmp resamples down to 44khz or 48khz before sending to the android OS since thats all android supported since i last looked.. and that resampling is done correctly)... the only software part of GMMP that can cause crackling is bumping the EQ bands too high without using the limiter.. so i would recommend using the limiter or not bumping the eq bands so high if you choose not to use the limiter.
the other things that can cause crackling are out of my control (interference with the DAC, poor audio drivers, or BT in general since its transcodes the audio)
since i have plenty of users on the original nexus 7 with no issues i am going to guess its probably an issue with lineage os.. while i do use custom roms myself. i give no guarantee things are going to work on them

I guess I will go back to bugginh lineage os devs then, thanks for taking your time for a detailed response!

after all these years, I've finally found the way to modify the relevant file to force 44.1khz output on usb devices: www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/73v3o6/this_is_how_you_change_the_sample_rate_to_441_khz/in my case, it was "audio_policy.conf" in /system/etc this has completely cured the intermittent yet annoying crackling I've been battling with. that simple! just a heads up for anyone facing a similar issue. thankfully, I can now stick with the GMMP UI I couldn't part with!
