On five separate occasions now, my personalized settings for GMMP have been wiped clean and replaced with the defaults you'd find with a new, clean installation.
The first two times occurred following each of the last two software updates. Then everything was fine for a long time until yesterday. Then, twice yesterday and once today, all of my custom settings disappeared with no apparent reason or common thread.
This has been with an HTC Evo 4G running CM7, if that matters. There have been no material changes to the phone recently, and no other software seems to be misbehaving.
Even if there's no other immediate solution, is there a way to back up my settings so that I can just re-import them when this happens?
Thanks!

Hm, there is nothing in the code that resets the settings. Once in awhile I may change a variable name to force the individual setting to go back to the default, but nothing to fully reset everything back to the default.
On an update of the app it should reuse the existing settings as well.
The only way I know how to completely reset everything to default is either uninstalling and installing the app again, or clearing the data for the app.
Do you have any "garbage cleaner" type apps.. if they even exist.. that attempt to clean up data caches that grow too large? The database for GMMP can get large if you have a lot of music.
Also are you forced to rescan your music and whatnot when this happens?
Another possibility.. while it is probably not the case.. would be that the actual settings file is read only and gmmp cannot save the changes. If this was the case... the issue would happen every time you restarted your phone.. so that most likely isnt it

Thanks very much for your quick response. I think you might be on to something with the settings file being read-only. I hadn't put it together, but I just tried to test for that. If I just exit GMMP, the settings are retained. If I manually stop the process or restart the phone, the settings are cleared.
Also, it does lose the library and asks me to rescan whenever the settings are reset. I don't have any sort of clean-up apps installed, either.
Can you tell me where the settings file is? I'll take a look. If that's the case, I wonder how/why that would have happened...
Thanks again!

it should be under the system root
/data/data/gonemad.gmmp/
the preferences are in the shared_prefs folder and the database is under the databases folder

I had the same problem with CM7 on a Milestone 1. I think the Problem has something to do with the JIT-Compiler. I deactivated it and it seems the problem is gone. You can deactivate the JIT-Compiler in the CM settings.
