I am using GMMP version 2.0.18 in an Android 5.0.2 phone (Moto G, Second Generation).
Every time I add a ringtone to my phone, GMMP adds it as Unknown Genre, Unknown Artist, Unknown Album. How do I get it to stop adding in my ringtones?
I set the scanner to only scan the Music folder on my internal memory, but that isn't doing the trick.
Thanks.

Any folder thats colored in the scanner will get scanned. By default your whole storage is selected so just hit the back arrow and be sure its unselected. You can also put a empty file named .nomedia in any folder you want the scanner to ignore. Folders with ringtones are supposed to contain that file but for whatever reason a lot of manufacturers / apps stopped doing it
I do plan on reworking the code that picks default scanner paths for at least android 6.0 but might go back to 5.0

The only folder that is colored in my Edit Scan Paths (i.e., that I have checked) is SD Card\Music. The ringtone is in Internal Storage\Ringtones.
I added an empty file named .nomedia into SD Card\Music, but it makes no difference.
Any ideas? Thanks.

SD Card\Music does not contain your ringtones so putting it there will do no good, secondly did you delete your database and rescan? Finally if you did delete the database then you definitely have your internal storage checked. /storage gets checked by default and every folder under it (the icon) will appear colored. You need to go up a directory or 2 to uncheck it

Okay, I removed .nomedia from SD Card\Music, but I must admit I don't quite understand the rest of your answer. I also see that the path that scans is /storage/emulated/0
Should it really be scanning the emulated folder? I don't even know what that is. When I go up a couple of directories, it lists emulated, sdcard0, sdcard1, and usbdisk. Should I check one those instead?
Thanks.

There are a few different folders that point to the same location and that is one of them. sdcard0 points to the main storage as well (i honestly have no idea what google was doing when they decided to name these folders). sdcard1 is your external sdcard Anyway. Prefs -> Scanner -> Delete Database, Prefs -> Scanner -> Scan Thats typically the easiest way to start fresh and make sure unwanted files dont end up in the database You want /storage/emulated/0 unchecked, sdcard0 unchecked (having either of those checked will scan your entire storage including ringtones and unwanted sounds). and make sure only the music folder is checked.. you then do the 2 things i mentioned above.. which let you start clean.
