I have noticed that if Play Random (Track) is activated, only a single track is queued. But if the On Queue Completion preference is set to either Play Next Track or Play Rest Of Album then on my system there is no gapless transition between the randomly selected track and the following track on its album which by preference will play next - this is presumably because gapless only works within a queue.
Would it be possible, therefore, to make adjoining album tracks not in a queue still play gaplessly somehow, or at least have a preference to 'Queue Rest Of Album' when activating Play Random (Track), so that the whole album will appear in the queue making playback gapless as usual? This new feature would be nice to have anyway.
Hope this makes sesnse.

Why dont you use the play random album if you want the whole album to play gapless?

Thanks. My reasoning is Play Random (Track) for me can give a variable start position (to make things a little less predictable perhaps) in what is effectively a randomly selected album - my queue completion setting is then to play next track, but in say a live album the playback won't be gapless in subsequent tracks. A suggested solution might be to possibly queue the whole of the album the track is randomly selected from (by a preference), and to start playback from that track onwards. So basically the same as currently what happens with Play Random Album, just the starting point in the queue is different, and playback of the rest of the album can now continue gaplessly.

are you swtiching back and forth between play next track and play random track? Or are you using the long press of the shuffle button

Shuffle button deactivated, with gesture action Play Random activated gives a single random track in the queue, leading to the problem described above. However, i have just experimented with the shuffle button and found a combination that initially does exactly what I want: if preference Shuffle Long Press Action is set to Play Random Album and the shuffle button is in the Shuffle Queue state, a long press on the shuffle button queues a random album and starts playing it from a random position within that album. So far so good, but of course it continues to play the remainder of that album randomly as well.
So how about a new gesture action like Play Random Album (From Random Position)! Or perhaps as suggested earlier, have a preference along lines of Queue Rest Of Album which activates when shuffling the whole collection by the various routes available.
