Work with Ford Sync over bluetooth, or USB? I just got a new Ford as a late X-mas gift, and so far I can only get Slacker to work with Ford Sync over bluetooth. Provides much better sound quality over the aux cable, and of course steering wheel controls for skipping songs, and on the radio display of song/artist. I haven't found a music player that works with Sync, and my Samsung GS3 yet.
The stock app doesn't work at all, even after putting music on the phones memory, rather than the ext sd card(which is stupid, because I have a 64gb card that is totally full of music)

bluetooth should never be better quality than line out.. bluetooth actually reencodes the audio which reduces quality.. anyway the low quality from aux might be due to the cable or just the receiver (or perhaps a bad DAC on your phone)
i do not know what ford sync is.. but gmmp does play over bluetooth (but then again every player does.. routing audio over bluetooth is a function of android... not of the individual music player)
the trial is free so try it out

I've to do it with Power amp, and the stock player over both the USB, and bluetooth, and the Ford Sync does not recognize the apps. It has to be able to see the app. Iheart, and Slacker apps both have check boxes to tell them to "play nice" with Sync. I'll try GMMP, I had it for awhile playing with replay gain, and it didn't seem to work with replay gain. If I can get it to work with Sync, then maybe I'll try to get replay gain working with it. Link to to Ford Sync: www.ford.com/technology/sync/I have the basic Sync system, don't know if that will be easier or harder than if it was the top of the line Sync system... And no it had no bearing on whether or not I bought the car, the car radio was the low priority...

if there is an actual sdk for sync that needs to be used then no gmmp does not work with sync.. i can add it to the feature request list but that does not mean i'll be able to get to it any time soon (the list is approaching 300 some requests)
Are you saying replaygain wasnt working or sync wasnt working with replaygain on?

I think it does need a switch to work with SYNC, cuz even Iheart wouldn't work until after I downloaded Iheart auto.
Replaygain doesn't work at all in GMMP. I've tried power amp, and it works just fine with it. Not sure what I'd be doing wrong in GMMP that it doesn't work...

email me one of the files to gonemadsoftware@gmail.com
all known tags(that i know about) of replaygain get read and applied assuming the setting is enabled
itunes doesnt use replaygain and uses a different mechanism which gmmp does not support yet (itunesnorm tag)

I'll listen again tomorrow and send them. I'll also try using another setting on the car for the GMMP to get audio thru the stereo from the phone. The stock app will work if I use "Bluetooth media stream) as the source. I discovered this on accident...

GMMP works with bluetooth media stream as my source in Sync. I'm emailing the replay gain issues to you now. I couldnt remember exactly which songs were giving me grief.
