I've been using the Album Art feature quite a lot recently. I think there are some UI improvements that can improve the usability of this feature.
In my order of preference/importance:
1.>Progress Feedback When downloading from the Internet, there's no feedback on the progress. A spinner or a progress-bar would be very helpful here.
2.>Default Image source I can't find any way to specify the default image source. Each time I search for an Album cover, I have to specify "Internet Image Search". This gets very tiring as I have quite a lot of albums for which I'm downloading the covers.
3.>Image size/Format Once the search finds an image, there's no information on the image's dimensions, or its format. Having this mentioned at the top/bottom of the image would be helpful.
4.>Discoverability of this feature The "Album Art" feature isn't prominently displayed anywhere. The way I'm currently using is going to the "Album" option and then bringing up the context menu and then selecting "Album Art". If this were a 'main' option like Album, Artist, etc., I'm sure that a lot more people would notice/use this feature.
I understand you're working to overhauling the UI, so please take these as inputs for the new UI. Of course, it'll be very useful to also have this in the current version.

1) The downloader (or.. the java code that is doing the downloading) does not get progress when its downloading so its not possible to show
2) I can put an option in for that
3) the web queries only specify a generic size term to search for. small medium large etc. In the preferences somewhere you can specify which one to search for. Its not possible to specify the resolution. There is a setting to specify the format to use to save the file as well.. png or jpg
4) It doesnt make sense to have it in the top navigation bar as it would be no way to link it to the album, but you can turn it on as a menu option for now playing to download the album art of the currently playing song. Prefs -> Now Playing -> Enabled Menu Options (or something named like that)
I plan on making every menu configurable on what to show.. and at that point I will probably show everything by default and then on first install point out that it can be changed. I didnt want to have a menu with 15 options on by default as many of the options are not commonly used

I have a spotty connection, and at times, I'm not able to tell if there's a connectivity issue/slowness, or whether the search couldn't find a cover. 3) the web queries only specify a generic size term to search for. small medium large etc. In the preferences somewhere you can specify which one to search for. Indeed, its selectable in the main preferences. I find that sometimes a cover isn't available in the size I specified, so I've gone back to "all sizes". Some more details in the results would be helpful
