showing 0 has nothing to do with bookmarks. Until the music service is started and loads the song, both the position and duration are at 0. Its just how it works

Hello,
I would like to restart this topic. I bought GMMP just last week and my main reason for this was the bookmark feature. My previous, now unsupported, audio book player not only saved the playback position within each file but it would also jump to the last played position of the last played file in a folder if I changed to this folder.
Since I listen to audiobooks as well as music with GMMP and I do not want to remember the last file played or search for it within 100 files per audiobook this missing feature makes the bookmark feature almost useless for my purposes.
Am I just not able to find this feature or it missing from GMMP?
Best regards

GMMP is a music player and was never intended to be an audiobook player but i've added in some requested features over the years that do help out with audiobooks. Also there is a free 14 day trial so there was no reason you couldnt have tried it out before purchasing to see if it fit your needs.

After using Rockbox I LOVE the idea of bookmarks. I listen to many different playlists depending on mood, who else is in the car with me, if I want some holiday music, music without lyrics, etc. I have become spoiled with Rockbox on my little Sansa Clip+ and would love for GoneMad to have similar functionality. This is VERY helpful for those listening to audio books, but also for general use when juggling multiply playlists.
Create Playlist level bookmarks (Track and Position) Automatically create bookmark any time audio file is paused/stopped/changed Restart from corresponding Playlist level bookmark when a playlist is loaded Bookmark tab would also be helpful but sounds like that is already on the list
I also listen to a LOT of podcasts, and break them out into separate playlists: News, Music, Comedy, etc. so playlist bookmarking is a BIG plus for me.
I am really enjoying the trial so far, including the ability to customize controls, swipe gestures, etc.

I have been looking for a replacement for my Rockbox player and was trying to get a better understanding of bookmarks.
I have lots of playlist is M3U format. I believe I understand how to configure GMMP to save bookmarks. My question is - how do I resume my playing from my bookmarked location. I just can't seem to figure that out. Where are the bookmarks?
Thank you very much.

Thank you for the response, but there is something I am missing or doing incorrectly. I did the following : * Navigate to the m3u playlist file and begin playing with GMMP * Get a few moments into the first track * Set a bookmark * Exit GMMP * Navigate back to the m3u playlist file and begin playing with GMMP * Play begins from the beginning of the first track.
I am new to GMMD and could very well be missing something.
Thank you

bookmarks work on songs.. not playlists. it bookmarks the position in the song so the next time you play it will return

As a former Rockbox user (and even developer), I've also been somewhat spoiled by the bookmarking support. However, while saving the current location in a track can be nice, it isn't enough, I think. For something like GoneMAD - which seems to be built around a queue (the UI is, at least) - to reproduce the bookmarking I'm used to from Rockbox, I think multiple queues are needed. That is, a way to switch between queues, and some simple management (add, remove, rename, list most recently played queues). Some settings would need to be specific to a queue, since what's relevant depends on what you're listening to. Playback speed and ReplayGain at least, but other stuff, like the equalizer, makes sense too. Maybe everything on the Effects page, to keep things simple (assuming ReplayGain is moved there)? This would allow me to switch listening between things like: - a shuffled list of all music on the device;
- a book;
- a podcast;
- one or more albums, played in "album order" (so different ReplayGain mode here);
all while the application keeps track of the current playback position and relevant settings. Of course, now I have specialized applications for books and podcasts, but the functionality would still be nice to have.

I am a new GMMP user, can you please confirm my understanding about bookmarks functionality: - Bookmarks are interconnected with skipping tracks, so skipping to a track that just happens to have a bookmark will necessarily jump to the location of the bookmark instead of beginning from 00:00 as expected.
In most players this is not referred to as 'bookmark' and it's done automatically by the app by saving last track seek position when stopping or skipping tracks. In GMMP, in order to get the same functionality, there's a requirement to manually save bookmark before skipping the track.
- Bookmarks can't be trusted to be kept for the long-run as they are removed once a track finishes play.
- It is not possible to bookmark more than one seek position in a single track.
Is there any plan to make changes in the bookmark functionality to make it more useful for long tracks / podcast users?

"Is there any plan to make changes in the bookmark functionality to make it more useful for long tracks / podcast users?"
No plans. They are intended to temporarily hold your stop until you finish the track.
FYI in the settings there are options for auto bookmarking. The name bookmark is fitting tho. When reading a book you mark your position with a bookmark. Most people do not use more than a single bookmark nor come back to an older bookmark position once they have read past it. This is how they are used in gmmp but replace "book" with "track"

No plans. They are intended to temporarily hold your stop until you finish the track. Kindly consider a feature request that would allow marking of multiple interesting points of time in a single podcast to allow getting back to later. AIMP android player does this very well (By the way, AIMP calls this feature "bookmark").

Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Features: As sustainability becomes a more significant concern for travelers, incorporating eco-friendly options, such as carbon footprint calculations or recommendations for eco-conscious activities, can make travel apps more appealing mlsdev.com/blog/hire-ios-developer.
