As subject.
I have lots of albums that are split over multiple discs that have subtitles. MusicBrainz and foobar2000 supports this tag: could GMMP? I'd like to be able to see the disc subtitle when playing a track at least.
While you can customise the tag fields that are displayed, this particular tag is not one of the options.
Being able to see it when browsing the library would be an unlikely bonus.
Great player! Thanks.

Do you have a link to the tag you are referring to? I dont recall seeing that one in the id3 spec (i probably just missed it but the key would help)
Is the subtitle like.. the name of a particular disc in a multi disc set?

Yes! That's exactly it: the name of a disc in a say a box set. Useful for albums with bonus discs, particularly. AFAIK the tag is simply: DISCSUBTITLE. An example would be my copy of Blue October's 'Foiled for the Last Time'. It came with a bonus disc called 'Teach Your Baby Well', and is a collection of live tracks from a tour with the same name. Also, I have a huge box set of Beatles albums (recent remasters): I like to keep them together as one album ('Beatles Stereo Box Set'), but have each disc tagged with a subtitle that is the original single album name. Further, is it possible to have GMMP use the Cover.jpg that is in the folder the music resides in? That way GMMP would use a different cover for each disc, rather than using the same cover for all the discs in a multi-part set. And while I'm here: would it also be possible to have, instead of 'track number and track title' displayed, 'disc number/track number and track title', instead, as in the behaviour of foodbar2000? I've linked to a screen shot, which shows all of the above: subtitle, disc numbers, album art based on folders, etc. sdrv.ms/ZzAf78Thank you for your response.

Further discussion: tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/PICARD-122Looks like it was non-standard in id3 2.3 until iTunes and MP3tag and other popular software started reading it. It was made official in 2.4. That's what I'm getting, anyway, from reading.

The way album art / album association is 1 to 1 so one image per album. Now in the scanner there is an option for "multi folder albums", if this is unchecked, each folder will show up as a separate album. Since each folder is now its own album, the cover.jpg from the folder will be used. Its a trade off on whether you want everything to be grouped under one album or have the right cover show.

It was made official in 2.4. That's what I'm getting, anyway, from reading. is it this tag? 4.2.1 TSST Set subtitle GMMPs tagging library can read 2.4 so that shouldnt be an issue. I still have to add composer tag support so i'll group it in with that work. Getting new tags from mp3s is pretty easy.. the tricky part is finding the equivalent tags in all the other formats... the freeform tag formats like flac and ogg sometimes dont have standard tag names for certain things

My MP3s use v2.3 to ensure they work with all my devices, but I shall try v2.4 to see if it makes a difference.
Specifically, when it comes to setting what tags are displayed in the 'My Playing' field, should I then be typing in TSST?
As for the album art: guess I'll just have to live with having one cover! (Or embed the art into the files themselves? I don't think that is possible with MP3s? Just FLACs?)

Unchecking the box does indeed do what you say! Thank you. Now if there was disc subtitle support, this could be quite nifty! As browsing by album throws up many of the same results now. I have a few of the same album, and having that subtitle in the results and on the now playing screen would make all the difference. BTW, does GMMP support multi album artists? If I separate them with a semi-colon instead of using "&" would an album show up under both artist names? Example: could I have Robert Plant & Alison Krauss' Raising Sand album show up under both their names instead of just one put together? Again, I think foobar2000 supports this. Sorry to such a nitpicking pain.

There will be something in the changelog when I add the tag, I was just asking if that was the key you were referring to

Multi artist will probably be first due to how the database is setup.. multi genre will require a lot of rework
