It would be nice to be able to display the current Smart list on the Now Playing screen.

thats a bit difficult with how things are setup at the moment. In gmmp you are never really playing a folder, or playlist file, or smart playlist.. just loading the contents into the active queue.
In the case where you play a smart playlist... what happens if you select another song to play next? is that original smart playlist still what is displayed?

I use iTunes to tag and organize my music and then sync it to my phone with FolderSync. I have everything broken down into four genres. Most of my music falls under Family. I put the stuff I like that my wife doesn't or isn't kid friendly under a genre of my name. I do the same for my wife's music. Then I have a Christmas genre. I then have a smart list for myself that includes my genre and Family and a smart list for Family which includes Family and my wife's genre. I have each list randomly sorted. So when I'm at work or commuting I get a random mix of my music. When the rest of the family is in the car I switch over to the Family mix. What I'm looking for is an easy way to identify which list I last selected. I understand how there'd be no way to identify which list you're in simply based on the current song. Would it be hard to populate a Last List tag when you start playing a song from the list? Understandably it would not always be accurate if I went out and picked another song but for me it would let me quickly see what list I'm most likely listening to.

sounds like you could just select genre as one of the tags displayed in now playing and that would do what you wanted
prefs -> now playing -> displayed tags

I thought about that as a temporary workaround. Most of my music is under the Family genre. So there's a good chance that a Family song will be playing. I won't know if one of my artists is playing until I hear it. If I don't happen to be near the phone or volume controls at the time then I can't easily skip the song. So that's why I need to know the last list played. It's not a big deal and I wouldn't expect a lot of time to be put into it if any. I just thought I'd ask in case it would be an easy tag to implement.
