Hi, I really like the player, and consider it the best on the market, but I have some feature requests after having used the app for a while: - When going in to the File Browser view there is an option to sort the list, but if I exit the app and go in to the view again the app does not remember my sort setting(but it does remember sort-setting for other views).
- If I choose to play a folder containing an album in the File Browser view that is not yet scanned, the playlist will not be sorted on tracknumber but on filename.
- Could a shortcut to start scanner be added when pressing menu button? It is something I use often and I think it is buried too deep in the preferences.
- When scanning for artwork for new albums I would like to have the option to set what filename the scanner uses as default artwork. My albums always have folder.jpg for album art but sometimes there are other jpgs(like back or inlet) in the folder that the app uses instead.
- In the album view I would like to have the option to sort on when the album was added to the database(to be able to see new music).
Thanks

1) yea the sort order of the browser should definitely be persisted, i'll take a look and get that fixed
2) I believe if you play a folder regardless of it being scanned or not it will play by filename order, this was mainly due to the potential to load a massive number of tracks at once where scanning all the tags (or querying the database) for information like track number would take a long time. Earlier versions of gmmp would block the UI while it was loading tracks so it had to be done as fast as possible.. now that it is the background it would be more feasible to factor in teh sort option when playing a folder. I believe it is somewhere on my todo list (along with the library views playing by sort order instead of by track number)
3)Yea, now that the menu options in now playing can be turned on/off there would be no issue adding a scan option.. tho i take it you want it accessible from the browser/library views?. Would you want it to directly start the scan or open the scanner?
4) hm the scanner should look for an image named folder/cover/ or contain "front" in the filename... before it uses the first image listed alphabetically. What is the filename of the image you want to be selected when it uses the back or inlet instead?
5) you could use a smart playlist for that.. i'll eventually add the ability to select the starting "level" (artist, album, genre), instead of it just listing songs 4

2. I also thought that the behaviour was the same for a folder that was already scanned but I checked just to make sure before posting. If I enter the folder in the folder view, it is sorted with track 1 first and 10;th track second(files named: 1 - song name, ... , 10 - song name etc..). But if I play the same album from folder view the order is correct in the playlist.
3. Yes, it would be nice if that is accessible from browser/library view. I would like it to just start a scan since I rarely ever change my scan settings once properly set up.
4. I just checked and the erroneous album art are present for albums that have a jpg with name "Album Name-front.jpg" in addition to a folder.jpg. It would work if the app would prefer jpgs with exact filename "folder.jpg" or "cover.jpg" before looking for substring in filename.
5. Sounds nice that you consider adding option for albums in smart playlist in the future.
Thanks

yea if you enter the folder it plays in order.. i consider that playing a file or playlist since you arent long pressing on a folder
4) yea i'll have to verify what the code is doing.. i may have given front the priority.. that can be easily changed

the sort order for the browser will be persisted in the next update.. just fixed that I've just tried it in the latest update and it is working well! But in the changelog for the latest version there is this: "-Re-prioritized local image search to pick images named 'folder' first, then 'cover', then anything containing 'front'" I tried this: I have an album folder with a jpg named "folder.jpg" in addition to a file named "albumname-front.jpg", but GMMP still does not prioritize the "folder.jpg" but instead use "albumname-front.jpg" as before.

Did you run a clean scan? (check delete database.. This will erase play stats so be sure to back it up) Once an image is found the location is stored in the db. The local search is only ran if nothing is stored already

Yes I did a clean scan. I even tried to delete the jpg with "cover"-suffix followed by a clean scan - and only then did GMMP select the "folder.jpg".
