To make the changes to the tags, you will need to update the file, modification date. Otherwise GMMP won't see the change during the file scan. Thanks. I will have a look if mp3tag automatically changes this when saving new tags.

to make changes external from gmmp*
using in app tag editor will auto update
modifying a file externally should change its last modified date however some syncing tools manipulate it when transferring over to your device

I will have a look if mp3tag automatically changes this when saving new tags. You can change this behavious in the settings for mp3tag. File>Options>General>_Preserve file modification time when saving tags

you would NOT want that enabled, right? Correct, otherwise GMMP and any other app would not see the change to grab the updated tag details.

Got another question / feature request regarding this topic: There is a ID3tag called "Mixartist", which could be used for Remixes. As I tested, GMMP does not support this in any way. Is there any chance that this could be implemented?
The best behaviour would be, that the Mixartist tag gets treated like it's an additional artist within the artist tag. Maybe the feature could be toggable within the GMMP menu to ignore mixartist as standard and include it as an artist tag if needed.

Especially on Android devices. I doubt you will see this implemented here or anywhere else anytime soon.

Yeah I already feared it haha
Thanks anyway. I guess I will use the mixartist field and let mp3tag copy if over to the Artist field afterwards.
With this it is possible to automatically remove the mixartist from the Artist field again if it may get supported anytime.
