Hello,
as my current SD-Card is corrupted and I have to sent it for exchange, I want to switch during this time to another SD-Card.
However, as the SD-Card is smaller I will not be able to transfer the whole Music Library. I would only transfer like half of the library to the new SD-Card, in the same folder structure etc as the old (so GMMP can detect all available files).
Will I run into any problems with this timewise exchange, when I do not run any database cleanup? (For example will files be automatically cleared from the library, or will not available files automatically be cleared from playlists?)
Thanks in advance for the help 🙂

playlists are standalone files and wouldnt be modified. GMMP will only display the files it can find (might be okay if there is an entry in the database.. i cant remember exactly how it verifies a file.. db or looking on disk) The problem i see is SDcards have their own unique path so simply keeping the same folder structure is not enough. See here on how to migrate to a diff device/card gonemadmusicplayer.proboards.com/post/9353/threadyou would have to do a database backup/restore which might not work if all the files arent present. If you do plan on getting another sdcard that can fit everything, the backup file would keep all the stats and whatnot of all the files.. so that would be the important thing to save

The only thing I wasn't sure about was if playlists would automatically be cleared from not available files, but good that that's not the case. For the SD-Card path you can simply rename the new SD-Card to the name of the old one and everything should work (at least I did so for my last sdcard exchanges if I remember correctly). I can give you Feedback regarding this tomorrow. Best greets

Okai it's not that straight forward in changing the SD-Card name anymore. You have to change the SD-Card Serial Number (also called Volume ID). I've used AOMEI Partition Assistant for that, which was very easy to use. (Here's the guide: www.diskpart.com/articles/change-sd-card-serial-number-7201.html?)There are also other alternatives out there to do this, for anyone interested: https://gist.github.com/dreamer2908/59066658df2844746e5feadba7a589a2 Best greets

To give a short Feedback: Everything worked perfectly. Got an exchange sd-card and synced everything from the part library of the smaller sd-card back to the whole library on the new sd-card. Then could just rename the new sd-card and everything was there again.
Just had to keep sure that I don't use the clean up feature of the scanner when using the part library.
