There's the setting under "Audio > Other" to go back to the start of the current track when it played at least 5 seconds. It'd be great if that duration would be customizable. But for my use case, where I often pause tracks in their first 5 seconds in the car and then later press "Previous" to begin playing them from the start, it would be more important if GMMP (whether by default or customizable) would never go to the previous track, but always play the current from the start, whenever the track was paused. This would be very easy to implement and a great default; because, who cares about the 5-second boundary when the track was paused?
In a similar vein, the current action "Play previous title" should actually be renamed to "Play previous/replay current title" and the following actions should be added: "Replay current title" and "[Definitively] play previous title". Settings like the one about the 5-second boundary would apply only to the renamed action, but not the new actions. Benefits: - You could, e.g., adjust GMMP's remote control settings, so that 1x "Previous" button definitively goes back to the previous title, and 2x "Previous" always rewinds the current track to its beginning. You'd know what you'll get.
- You could make the lower buttons on GMMP's current-track view behave more similar to apps like Foobar2000 or Winamp, where "Previous" always goes back to the previous track, no matter the current position in the track, and where "Play" plays the current track from the start. GMMP could just be configured to associate long press on the play button with resetting the track position (dependent on this Trello card).

For your first point, I think these are good proposals. However for the first point, I think 1x press of the [Previous button] is typically a restart of the current track, a 2x press of the same initiates the full previous track, and continues further back if pressed repeatedly. That is, if a single button is to do both functions. Elaborating on your other point, perhaps there could be two or three possible action options to pick from to customize the button function. The first option performs as suggested above with a 1x or 2x press (this would be my personal preference). The second option is always play the previous track, no restart of the current track. There is a third option to always play the current track from the start - however this means there would be no other way to go further back in the now playing queue, and I don’t know if this is truly a good option over the first two. I don't think these specific options exist currently, just the previous function, plus the option to first restart after a fixed play time.

I think 1x press of the [Previous button] is typically a restart of the current track, a 2x press of the same initiates the full previous track, and continues further back if pressed repeatedly. That is, if a single button is to do both functions. I was talking about the setting under "General > Remote Controls". And there, a user could, of course, also define the actions swapped. However, I don't think you can avoid waiting for GMMP to put the command into action. GMMP has to wait whether more presses are coming to form one command. So, if you're using the remote control settings with your Bluetooth device and want to go, say, 4 tracks back, there'd need to be waiting times anyway, no matter whether it is 1x or 2x "Previous" that goes to the previous track. Elaborating on your other point, perhaps there could be two or three possible action options to pick from to customize the button function. I don't think these specific options exist currently, just the previous function, plus the option to first restart after a fixed play time. In "Now Playing", there's the customization option "[3-dot button] > Customize > Buttons > [tap on button ('Play' doesn't work yet)]". There, you can choose from a list of actions for short and long press. That's the actions I talked about, and the action "Play previous title", which in reality is "Play previous/replay current title" if the 5-second setting is set, is the one that should be renamed, while the 2 other actions I mentioned should be added to the list. Along with making customization of specifically the play button possible, this should cover everything.

I can add the configurable time to the request list.. and have a separate 'restart track' action which would be available as a NP button, widget button, notification button, and gesture action. I'll add both requests to trello when i get home
