Hey.
When scrolling up/down a scrollbar, gmmp shows the initial letters of e.g. album titles or similar.
Right now it has the distance "between" these letters proportionally to the number of list entries starting with the respective letter. That means, when one has only few titles with e.g. a-r and t-z... but much more with s... than scrolling over the s will require much more movement.
The problem with that is, that it makes IMO scrolling through the letters (which is not the same as scrolling through the titles) a bit unintuitive. I'd rather prefer to have them all at the same "distance", thus regardless of how many titles one would have starting with a s ... the s letter would always be at the same place.
Of course, such an alternative scrolling mode would be really only a scroll-through-letters mode, and it wouldn't make much sense to scroll (at the same time) to the titles list itself. Instead if would probably make sense, that if one scrolls to the s letter,... on ends up simply at the first title with an s. As such, it would visually probably be better, if the actual jump in the list, happens only after one finished the scrolling through the scroll bar.
And even advanced mode, could perhaps allow to have both modes at the same time, e.g. simply by having two scroll bars, one left one right... or maybe also at the top/bottom?
Cheers, Chris.

fast scrolling is handled by a third party library and i have no plans on writing my own. no plans on this changing.. the current implementation is perfectly fine
edit: no plans* sorry

Well, as I've described above, it's simply quite unintuitive to scroll through it...

Well, as I've described above, it's simply quite unintuitive to scroll through it... I find it more accurate, as the emphasis on letters with more content is valid, and less so for those with fewer entries.

Well, that's why I had wanted both modes: - the current one, which more closely resembles the actual titles - the one which I proposed, where each letter would have the same "distance", and where one could thus more easily/"blindly" scroll through the letters.
