I removed the Artist tab, had to effect to my problem. I'll try the drawer option. Did you also nuke the Songs tab? With 140k songs this is a monster list, and in tab nav it will take some resources to refresh each time. I’m using a device with Android 8.1 and a pretty slow processor, and my library is “just” 24k songs.🤪 But after dropping both the Songs and Artists tabs, Tab nav was as fast as Drawer mode.

Yeah the track/songs tab is really the big bottleneck. If the list is too large (even though gmmp only requests a small portion of the list to display at a time through the paging library), the app will basically just pause for a few seconds while it tries to free memory (this not something im specifically doing, but something at the OS level that i just happened to see in the logs when testing it out). I think it comes down to how google's paging library works. They did release a paging3 library that hopefully will be optimized a bit better, but i havent had time to switch over to it yet.
