I have an album by Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley where he released an album called Origins Vol. 2 where he plays cover tunes of some influential artists (please see screenshot below). In the Artist -> Albums view, each track is listed as an individual album whereas I want them displayed as one album. I've tagged the music files so that the Album field is "Origins Vol. 2" but the Album Artist field is something like "Led Zeppelin tribute" so that when I want to search for a particular song (in this example, "Good Times, Bad Times"), I can use the search feature in GMMP and search for "Led Zeppelin" or even "tribute" to find it. Am I not tagging the tracks properly, or is this a GMMP failing? (Most likely it's me, but I can't figure out to fix it.) Attachments:

I'm thinking of moving the data I have in the Album Artist field and moving it to the Composer field (which is a searchable field in GMMP) and then copying all my Artist tags into the Album Artist field. Does this makes sense?

As long as you only have one albumartist tag per album then that would be fine. In this case with covers using the composer field for the original artist who wrote the song does make sense

My suggestion is to set all tracks to have the AlbumArtist field as “Ace Frehley” to keep them all under just one Album “Origins Vol. 2” rather than split as you see now. For each track, if you want to have the ability to search like you are asking, you can then set each track Artist field to show Ace as well as the original artist. Using your example that track Artist would be “Ace Frehley; Led Zeppelin” and show up in the Artist list under each. Note the semicolon separator that allows this functionality. As a side note, GMMP also supports the sort tags. So you could also add fields for AlbumArtistSort as “Frehley, Ace” and the Artist field as “Frehley, Ace; Led Zeppelin” so that ace is correctly sorted under F if you prefer.
