all images are cached (glide resizes based off the UI element they are being displayed in). change the album art from inside the app to refresh it. changing embedded art from outside the app will definitely not get reflected due to the caching

I was making the change right in the UI screen, it wasn't updating. I deleted the entire album, then copied the updated info back from the server. Works now. Maybe an Android file access thing. I'll see if it happens again.

if you were using embedded images did you use the tag editor or just go to album art select? Changing embedded tags requires the use of the tag editor, otherwise any selected area will just get overridden by the "prefer embedded art" setting since you are not embedding images into the tags using the regular art select

gmmp correctly uses the metadata over bluetooth apis (the broadcast metadata setting hasnt been used for BT by the OS since before android 4.0.. it just sends intents on what gmmp is doing). Something is either wrong with your device or your bluetooth receiver. android 8.0 or 9 (cant remember which) had issues with metadata over BT at the OS level on many devices I'm on Android 10, Samsung Note 9. Metadata works with Google Music, Samsung Music, etc... Not with GoneMad... BMW doesn't use Android Auto... Just bluetooth. Tried playing with other settings, including turning off cross fade, the settings for sending artist, album, etc. Nothing seems to make it work. If you say it's an Android bug, okay, I'll accept that, but if so, that bug has been around for 3 versions of Android - which is totally possible. Annoying, but ...

I've done some testing, and I've gotten it to work, if I reboot and play an album without any artwork, it works. But as soon as a song comes up with artwork, it stops showing song data. I've got multiple cars that aren't getting the data
I'm wondering if the album image size is still too large? Or...is there a formatting issue with the artwork?

Or...is there a formatting issue with the artwork? its most likely the size of the art work. I"ll have to dig through the code to see what its being resampled too. Is your artwork embedded or standalone image files? edit: it downsamples to 800x800 which should be plenty small enough. also based on what you said its probably not an issue with the receiver, but with the phone + image size. What device do you have? They do have limitations on how much data can be sent but 800x800 should be within those limitations edit: i do actually have an internal setting on whether to broadcast art or not. i'll expose that in the next update

I think that's a good solution... I tried it on a Chevy Equinox and it all displayed correctly... So, most likely the receiver in some cars, like my 2011 BMW. Option to turn off artwork is a great option too... if all else fails.
Thanks for all your work on this. Great music player.
Impressed.

Duplicate Smart Playlist Create a copy of a smart playlist, so edits can be made to create similar but not identical playlists. Is this planned already?

no but i can add it to the request list. smart playlists are stored as files on disk so you could copy it and rename the file (could edit it with text editor as well). Its the .spl files in the storage/gmmp/smart folder i think its called

Its the .spl files in the storage/gmmp/smart folder i think its called Yes that works for now. Not any kind of rush, but may be more intuitive from within GMMP for most users. FYI - I simply made copies in the same folder, edits could be done within GMMP after a restart. They did appear in the Smart list, all with the same name, even thought the actual file names were different. All of the edits worked as expected afterwards including renaming them from the editor.

Do you plan to give the options (especially Background and maybe Album Cover) for Layout 1 in Now Playing too?

Great to have some of these "minor" tweaks back in V3, thanks! I have started to work on some metadata improvements with the new "next track" tags available, thanks for these. Someday maybe a cover thumbnail can be added? One bug has come up. If you drag the seek bar forward, the audio glitches. I did move to OpenSL, I will go back to turning that off and see if there is an improvement.
