GoneMAD Music Player 3.0 Alpha Feedback

I have opted to just go with a single download that includes all architectures. This will install as a separate app from GMMP 2.x so you can run them both side by side until a stable version of 3.0 is ready.

3.0 Alpha 19 (2019-12-17):

This should be the last alpha

New:
-Added folder search for artist art (folder must contain artist name to be searched)
-Album art will now be used if no artist art is found
-Added options in the settings to download missing art (album and artist)
-Added 3 app shortcuts: Play, Shuffle All, and Search
-Added album shuffle (available in library menu)
-Added play next/prev album in queue when in album shuffle mode
-Scanner will now auto search for artwork for newly scanned artist and albums

Improvements:
-Added additional logging for file read/write errors
-Art selector "none" option now shows the letter placeholder
-Improved how multi selected items are highlighted
-Art selector UI will now incrementally load search results instead of waiting for all results to return
-Improved rxjava related error handling / reporting
-Letter placeholder background color is now a random interpolation between the primaryColor and primaryDark
-Updated libraries
-Art searches now filter out "feat whatever" from the artist name

Fixes:
-Fixed crash when trying to remove context menu on folder view
-Fixed other various crashes
-Fixed case insensitive sorting issue that some users experienced
-Removed gifs from image search results
-Removed now playing from side navigation menu in split view
-Fixed letter drawable not resizing correctly when grid size is changed
-Toolbar back arrow should no longer revert to the drawer menu icon when resuming the app
-Other various fixes

edit: Just to reiterate what is in the first link above, GMMP 3.0 Alpha is not feature complete so please refrain from posting about how options from 2.x are missing. I am looking for feedback on bugs on what currently exists in the alpha. If missing options are still missing when things are in the beta stages then yeah feel free to bring it up

yea i seem to be getting that now too. gotta love when stuff worked fine for months and then suddenly starts to crash right on release. Looking at the logs i think i know why. I guess when doing a release version of the app, proguard removed some stuff that is needed. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Didn't find class "com.afollestad.aesthetic.AestheticSwitchCompat"

probably explains all the theming issues. I'll post another update in a bit

Hi

Realy small bug. When changing songs fom the notification, album art gets stuck until you change tracks in app again. LG G6 Nougat(7.0)

It crashes (Unfortunately stopped) immediately after launching every time. Sometimes it will show the UI for a split second and then crash. Other times it's just a black screen before crashing. The first time however, after crashing, the scanning continued and finished. So I'd say the problem is with the UI.

I'm running 6.0.1 (custom rom) in a Galaxy Note 3 (hlte). I had 340 dpi when I first launched it so I tried launching in 480 dpi (default for Note 3) but it didn't work either. However GMMP stayed about 5 seconds more this time before crashing. Anyway, thanks for your hard work man! GMMP is light years ahead of others.

according to the crash reports i've gotten (looks like its your device) the crash is something to do with the android audio effects. I'll try to get another update out today

yeah i have a few bugs related to the album art already on the trello bug list. now playing doesnt update art correctly while the screen is off as well

Very minor - I don't know if this is a bug or the feature is the enabled yet so I don't want to post it on Trello - but GoneMAD isn't showing up in Android Auto. I know you mentioned AA in one of your progress posts, and AA works just fine in GMMP v2.

The notification for playing music on Oreo shouldn't show the time since the notification first appeared (as if it was a standard app notification).

Also, the the back and forward seek notification buttons don't appear to do anything except briefly pause the track for a fraction of a second.

Since its not installed through the playstore you will have to enable the developer options in auto and turn on unknown sources

Step 1. On the Android Auto app, enable unknown sources in developer mode
Install the Android Auto app, available on Google Play, on your handheld.
In the Android Auto app, tap the Hamburger menu.
Tap About.
Tap the About Android Auto header 10 times, until a toast appears that says "Developer mode enabled".
Now you can access developer mode by selecting the overflow menu dots on the top right of the handheld screen.

Select Developer settings from the overflow menu. Select Developer in Application Mode and check Unknown sources.
Restart Android Auto (or possibly restart your device if it still doesnt show)

Fixed issue where the current time in now playing would show negative if no track was loaded

Seek will now move 5 seconds instead of 5 milliseconds forward or backwards
