Hello,
So the issue is that I use an external SD to put all of my Music and Playlists on (this way I can swap it out to various other devices if I am traveling or what not). GMMP reads the music fine and is perfect in that regard. The issue is that GMMP will not write any playlists to the external SD Card (even if they are already on the SD Card). When I ever pick a song's "Save to Playlist" and I pick my playlist I get prompted to "Grant SD Card access. Pick the root of the SD card" and when I do, nothing happens it goes back to the playlist selection screen and I pick the playlist again and repeat. How can we fix this?
I noticed on Trello there are some issues possibly alluding to this (Android M causing write permission issues, SD card access issues, etc). Is there a fix to this issue?
Please and thanks, B1313

try editing tags and granting permissions that way. I've had one similar report but i cant seem to find any flaws in the code or reproduce it myself. Editting the tags did work for the other user tho and they were able to write playlists after that

So, I need to edit Tags in a random song or what? Edit: that seemed to work and fixed the issue. Could it be due to the nature of how SD card writing permissions changed in Android M? It might treat media like Music as "Ok to write to the SD Card" while m3u files are not considered as such and trying to find the path with the unique identifier used for SD Card emulation by Android M can cause GMMP to crash (which I successfully did so last night trying to just brute force fix the problem) or not accept the root folder assignment? If the features both use the same function to assign the root path/perm then in theory it is not that function but rather the act of the writing/type of file....I am just theory-oh'ing a lot of this out. Thanks for the help though. Keep up the awesome work as I love that there is at least one developer out there who packed a lot of customization features in while still allowing users to not adopt the god awful "Material Design" marketing strategy by Google.

no there is a bug in gmmp that i cannot figure out. Editting and tags and editing playlists use the same code underneath to ask for permission.. but for wahtever reason for some people it wont save the permission when done through the playlist

Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved? I can no longer retag songs without being promoted to "Grant SD card access in order to complete this operation" Then I hit a stone wall....

did you try going into the preferences and granting access that way?

I tried to grant access from everywhere: settings, changing tags and creating playlists, but none worked, it just throws me back. It would be very useful to be able to save playlists to sd card. I have android 7.1.1. Maybe it has different permission management than android M. Anyway, please try to fix this issue.

its the same permission system. if i knew how to fix it i would. GMMP follows everything the documentation states on assigning permissions and it works on all my test devices. Without more information on how to reproduce it there is not much i can do

I have the same problem, I can't edit tags or playlists. Also it duplicates every track in every album after scanning.
