I am hoping that you can implement a Replaygain feature that was available on the Squeezebox platform. I could set a mode where it would use album or track gain based on the what was added to the playlist. For example, if I added an album(s) to the playlist, it would play in album mode, but if I simply added individual tracks, it would play in track mode.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! i admit that would be neat but the queue has no concept of anything other than tracks, adding an album/artist/folder to the queue just turns that selection into a list of tracks and adds it to the queue

I'm pretty sure that Squeezebox server doesn't do anything when stuff is added to the queue. The "magic" happens when playback is active. From the "Smart Gain" description on the server interface (I've been a Squeezebox user for more than 10 years and I entered this subsection just to ask for this ): "Smart" gain selection uses album gain if successive songs are from the same album or track gain for a mixed playlist.
Info on the above: wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Automatic_Volume_Adjustment
This was successfully implemented in the Subsonic Android client DSub upon my request. I don't know if the developer would be available to share details or provide some help. The discussion that led to this can be found here: forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14716 it contains lots of info on how to better implement it.

Thanks a lot for taking this into consideration. Much appreciated.
If you need clarifications, feel free to ask. I'd love to help however possible

replaygain use track gain when shuffle and album when not
I know this card is on Trello for 4.0 (currently). I'd just like to offer my 2ยข to consider when you get to working on this in the future.
While testing 3.3.0 today for gapless, there were pretty obvious differences when playing an album with several tracks in a row that seamlessly blend into each other. I was listening to Boston>Third Stage for reference. There are several tracks on this somewhat "concept" album, and the quiet passage volumes are significantly boosted before dropping down on the following track that has more dynamics involved. (I have ripped this disc using the CD indexes for tracks 3a/b/c and 9a/b. So there ends up being 14 files, not just the 10 you would have if you rip without the indexes. This makes it a good album to test gapless, and as it turns out RG too. I can share this for testing if you like).
Currently in the ReplayGain menu, there are selections to enable RG, and prefer Album Gain over Track Gain. A separate setting to prefer Album Gain when listening in "Normal" playback mode versus "Shuffle" or "Auto-DJ" where Track Gain can be used would be sufficient to manage this pretty efficiently. A "Smart" mode that monitors all playback modes and looks for immediate sequences of tracks, even in these other modes, may be ideal for others but tougher to implement.

I was listening to Boston>Third Stage for reference. BTW I did not have "Prefer Album Gain" checked at the time, which is why this was noticeable. The volume gains are fine when it is checked. But that means changing this setting each time moving from listening to albums, to listening in shuffle modes.

There is already code to do smart crossfade (when playing 2 consecutive tracks in an album). Hooking that into RG gain with the track/album value could probably be done
