Firstly thanks loads for the awesome piece of software! Without it I would have thrown my Archos 70 in the trash!
A couple more Displayed Tags would be nice, Ratings, Format & Bitrate.
Full screen Landscape Art mode with Display tags overlayed on image, maybe with small control buttons.
Finding/loading playlists a bit awkward, the Playlist button takes you to a "Now Playing" section then you have to "Manage playlists" to find a playlist, could you have a button that just took you straight to all playlists on device?
And an easier way to start a "Shuffle all", not quite sure if im doing it right? you need to start any track then choose "shuffle" from the menu and then choose "collection"?
And a last question, I keep experiencing crashes a few times a day, it then says its sending a report, are you recieving these or just google?
Thanks again

Hey good suggestions. More tags to display on the screen is planned along with the next track.
The playlist button sends you to the "active playlist".. the queue of what is currently playing and what will play next. I do see what you saying about the extra steps to find a playlist. The manage playlist option was added as an afterthought since I originally planned on gmmp being very library based, but people wanted playlist supported so it was added in that way.
Press the shuffle button twice to get to shuffle collection (the shuffle icon is white for shuffle playlist and blue for shuffle collection)
I get those crash reports. They have all been outofmemoryerrors when trying to load one of the icons in the UI. Do you have album art that is a fairly high resolution?

Yes, most of my album art is embbeded in track and of high quality where possible, any solutions to this ? Is this also why when tracks change the info doesnt update in some cases for 30 seconds or more?
Thanks for the other info, shufling no problems now!
Still lovin GoneMad player ;D

what resolution images do you have embedded?
the info in now playing or in the widgets? when the tracks change on their own or you manually advance? Is taking 30 seconds consistently or just once in awhile.
The widgets tend to update slower due to how it communicates with the music service in the background.. but it usually updates for me in a few seconds. High quality album art might make that take longer tho. Do you have one of the hard drive models or is it flash memory?

Most of my tracks have been tagged using mediamonkey to retrive album art, lots of different resolutions, keep them high to look good on 32inch monitor. Its the info in the main player I was refering to. It randomly takes different times to update, sometimes it doesnt. I have the 250gig harddrive model.
Thanks

hmm.. the actual track info or the album art? i've seen cases where the album art is delayed loading but the artist/album/etc always is immediate

The majority of the time it is the album art, but sometimes the track info aswell.
And now random freezing problems, it changes to the next track, updates the info (track & Album) but the song doesnt start, I then have to skip track and its starts again, seems to happen every hour or so of playing?

did you post a bug report sometime recently? looking at the logs i believe the album art taking forever to update is an issue with memory
the error log showed the tag not being able to extract the album out due to insufficient memory. I also saw tons of generic not enough memory errors that were not specific to my app.. do you run anything else typically when listening to music?

With the problems I have been having, I try to run nothing when using GoneMad Player. I have been posting most of my crash details to you.
If its the album art causing the crashes there is an option in Mediamonkey to remove art from files if above a certain size when syncing, also the option to export album art to folders. Is it worth changing these settings, above what file size should I limit?
as for the tons of generic not enough memory errors I have no idea!

if you can limit by resolution, 800x600 is what actually gets displayed in gmmp
what causes the out of memory errors is when the image is much larger.. it has to load the full image into memory first.. before it downsamples to 800x600 to display on the screen

Finding/loading playlists a bit awkward, the Playlist button takes you to a "Now Playing" section then you have to "Manage playlists" to find a playlist, could you have a button that just took you straight to all playlists on device? I just pushed 1.1.3 to the market.. which will let you immediately jump to 'manage playlists' by long pressing the playlist button

Is it possible to add Lyrics please?
most of my MP3's have lyrics in them, but would love to have an option to download lyrics on demand :-)
