Now using 1.9.12 but this is not unique to the Beta; it was happening before I upgraded. GMMP randomly becomes unresponsive to control inputs from an external bluetooth device. One second, changing tracks forward/backward with the bluetooth device works fine, and the next it doesn't. When this happens, I can correct the problem by going into Settings --> General --> Headset Prefs --> Enable Headset/Remote Control. If I just uncheck that, then check it again, then back out of the settings menus everything works as it should. I only have to do this once per session.
It might be worth noting that even when GMMP stops responding, Android still obeys volume control changes from the BT device. Also the audio continues to play with no problem.
I have never found a common factor to why this happens or when it surfaces. If I listen for around 30 minutes, I estimate there would be a 95% chance that it will stop responding to the BT device during that time.
This seems to happen with equal frequency with three different connected devices... -- Car stereo -- Eagle Tech bluetooth receiver (http://www.microcenter.com/product/411065/Arion_Bluetooth_Music_Receiver_-_Phone_Adapter) -- NoiseHush bluetooth receiver (http://www.amazon.com/NoiseHush-NS560-11978-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B0092MD7C0)
... which leads me to believe it's not the bluetooth device. Beyond that, I have no idea if the phone or GMMP might be the problem. The phone is a Galaxy S4, Sprint.
Thanks for listening and for any help!

most likely either some other app is stealing your audio focus (and therefore gmmp can no longer receive any remote commands) or if this only happens when paused, the android OS might be overly agressive about killing the music service. Android 5.0 is really bad about that (I can pause for like a half hour and come back and the music service got killed)
Also if you have the music service timeout enabled that would be a big reason why.. turn that off
