I have this player on 2 Archos 48 IT's. I love it. But what's up with the Dr.Mad stuff? GMMP finds like 20 songs on one player and 70 on the other but they do not appear in the /storage/music folder I'm searching. Are these part of the program and if so, where are they and what's their purpose?

After some googling, I suspect these might be part of the OS or Archos software. The question then becomes, how do I get GMMP to stop finding this sound bytes?

yea its something that comes on the archos devices, its just a coincidence that it happens to be named MAD. If you know the folder that contains these sound bytes.. you can add a .nomedia file to the folder and the scanner will ignore it, you could also add that folder to the ignore paths in the scanner.. or finally if all your music is in something like /storage/Music you can go into the scanner and edit the paths to only scan that folder instead of the whole sdcard so it doesnt pick up anything extra

That's the weird part. The only path I'm scanning is /storage/music, but I cannot find out where this Dr.MAD stuff is hiding. I'd do the .nomedia trick if I could find these files on my device. Since I'm only searching the music folder, is it pretty much guaranteed to be in there somewhere???

look for a folder in Music named ringtones or something.
you could also do this to help find their location
preferences -> now playing -> displayed tags -> slot 5 (or 6) -> Select folder
play one of the dr mad tracks, and look in now playing.. it should show the folder name that the file is in, that may help you find it

Cool. I did not know about that option. GMMP says it's in /ringtones and the files are .ogg. This must be hidden from windows in MTP mode since a search from a mounted device won't find the files. I may try to mount this volume under Linux to try to find the offending folder.

you should just be able to use the file browser in gmmp to delete it.. and yea certain folders get hidden in MTP mode

Thanks! I was able to verify that it is locked by root on the archos so that's why MTP couldn't see it. If it is indeed locked and I can't add .nomedia, i'll try adding this path to the ignore list.

nothing should be true "locked" if its in the /storage folder
you can download a file manager app and delete it / move it on the actual device. I use OI File Manager or something like that on my 5IT

I just deleted the whole folder with using GMMP delete file/folder feature.
