I have been having problems with my playlists disappearing. At first, after I synced my playlist everything would be great until next time I used my device and my 30 playlists would not be there (only about 5 of them). NOW (after update) all the playlists are listed but they are empty. The music is all on the device and I can see them in songs and artists, etc. but the playlists are what are giving me problems.

If gmmp cannot find the files in the playlist they wont be listed. Android can change the location of where things are stored on the device in turn invalidating the playlist files. Open up one of the m3u playlist files in a text editor to look to see if there is anything listed or if they are empty. If they are empty then something else has wiped them... GMMP only saves over a playlist if it was edited from within the app and will not touch them otherwise.

They are empty, any clue what "something else" is so I can eliminate that "something else". OR how can I prevent android of changing the location of the files? This is happening all the time, I sync, they work for a bit, then they don't.

Hi, not sure if I should start a new post or not?
My playlists are also disappearing but they are only ever created in gmmp. I cannot spot a pattern to them disappearing. They are stored in internal\gmmp\playlists.
I created 2 new playlists yesterday with a track in each and today only 1 of them exists in the folder.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

Thanks The only time GMMP will actually delete a playlist file is if the user uses the delete function. This is behind a confirmation prompt so its not like that can accidentally be triggered and there is nothing else in GMMP that triggers the delete code. Whats more likely is the playlist never saved in the first place, did you happen to verify that there were originally 2 files there and then one disappeared? Im still more likely to say something else is erasing the playlists as I do get every error reported back to me and the only playlist related errors are trying to save files when the storage doesnt allow access (typically in android 4.4 with the sdcard)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
Yes, both files were there. I just had the phone connected to my pc and when I removed it, found that the remaining playlist has now disappeared.
I think I noticed a message saying preparing sd card when I unplugged, so perhaps something to do with Android (4.3) or bad implementation by Huawie?

The "preparing sdcard" is something that would show up in gingerbread after your unmounted the storage. Im not aware of any issues like this specific to 4.3 so its most likely a huawei issue. They arent exactly known for having the best software

Hi, just wanted to update and advise that playlists are no longer deleting. I made 2 changes so I am not sure which worked. I set the USB connection to MTP. I also set the path to the playlists to a folder on my SD card. Many thanks for your help and support. GMMP is a great product, well done!
