To start I have a 2012 Mazda3 with Bluetooth however I have found that when GMMP starts playing over Bluetooth in my car I'm unable to use the buttons in my car for Next Track or Previous Track but Play and Pause work.
However once I go into GMMP options and change any setting under Headset Preferences the Next Track or Previous Track buttons start working suddenly.
I'm not too sure why this is but any suggestions would be great couldn't find much via forum search.
I have spent money on PowerAMP (Bluetooth problems) and PlayerPro (Shuffle problems) so I'm a bit hesitant to buy another player and get burned but I will say this is the best player I have used on Android yet.

at what point does is stop working after you change the settings? It honestly sounds like a device issue compared to a player. I have a 2010 mazda 3 (should be pretty similar to the 2012 version.. there has only been minor changes since 2010) and thats mainly what i've used for the bluetooth testing. I have not had any issues with the next/prev track button on the default settings. The car control buttons are translated by the android OS into "media button intents".. which is what music players respond too. Its fairly trivial to listen for these intents and handle them. A good way to test if the player is handling the intents correctly is using something like media buttons and adding some control widgets to test it out. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.mediabuttonsAssuming Media Buttons still works (i havent tested it in about a year or so).. and you are able to change tracks with it.. but not over bluetooth.. then i would say its an issue with the device Settings wise i would disable the "single button actions" and also be sure "media button actions" -> advanced controls is disabled. The advanced controls do not work well with the mazda 3 at all edit: Also note the music service has to be running in order for it to respond to anything.. if play/pause are working it does sound like the music service is running.. but its something i had to mention.

I'll have to give Media Buttons a try but yeah I have "single button actions" unchecked and "advanced controls" is disabled as well.
Yeah the music is paused in my notification tray and starts playing when my car starts so I think the music service is still running.
I'll try to do some more testing today

yea that would definitely mean its still running. The only time it really does get shut down is if you use menu->exit or enable the music service timeout (which i dont recommend turning on)

Uninstalling Poweramp and PlayerPro seemed to resolve this issue. Guessing one or both must have been higher priority with the Bluetooth even though I had all Bluetooth options disabled in each player.

good to know. yea it seems that having multiple players can cause some conflicts.. who knows what those players are doing behind the scenes (even with the settings disabled)
