AFAIK, the format (MP3, FLAC, WMA...) of the track being played is not available in the preset or custom tag list. Would be great if this could be appended perhaps to the "Quality" preset (for example: "MP3 256kbps 44kHz") and also as a custom tag.

i can add a %fmt% or something like that for the custom metadata lines.. file extension is easy enough to extract from the filename

%ext% - Current track's extension %next% - Next track's extension
I realize this is not necessarily the "format" but its the best that i can do at the moment.
I think M4A/M4B/MP4/AAC/ALAC are really the only ones that can be diff from the extension. m4a/m4b/mp4 are techically aac or appless lossless (ALAC) audio in the mp4 container. and .AAC is ADTS aka raw aac
it will have to do for now
