Everytime i backup my stats (songs played etc.) it doesn't back then up. I go into my gmmp files, the date of the last back is Feb 2019. Most times it'll tell me failed. When it doesn't tell me failed, it says nothing. Doesn't say success or something like that.

The only way the backup can fail is if it cannot write the file (likely due to permissions). Try deleting or renaming the old backup file and retrying

Tried renaming, tried deleting. Didn't work. It should have permissions because it finds the songs. Don't see a place to give permission. Settings backup works fine, but not stats backup.

Finding and playing the songs doesn't need the same permission as writing. You may need to revoke that permission (long press the GMMP icon, tap the info (Circled "i"), Storage). I think that is the only way to reset this and have Android ask for your permission again next time you try to access writing in GMMP. This may have happened if you are using an SD card that has been recently updated outside of the phone (Android often renames the root folder causing this) or if an update to the Android version did it.

Writing tags on internal storage wont bring up the permission prompt either

Sorry about confusing that.

Thanks for the help. If anything i may just disregard the stats and remove that tag from my now playing screen. If i can't figure this out.

Because every time my Android gets an update, i have to remove my sd card from the phone, do the update, then insert the card back into my phone. That's when i lose all my stats and have to start over. I used to leave my sd card in my phone while doing the Android update, but one time the update entirely wiped out my sd card and deleted everything on it. Not taking any chance again.

Yes i tried restoring my stats after inserting the card back into the phone and there's no stats to restore. That's my problem.

you can disable "cleaning" in the scanner settings. That removes missing files. So if thats disabled you can remove your sdcard freely without worrying about losing stats. Only a manual clean would remove them from the database
