So, I've got two things here:
a) When opening an audio file via a filemanager app on my smartphone (Samsung A5 2017) and choosing gonemad mediaplayer (gmmp) to play the file, the song is played, but the display doesn't show the song's meta data but remains showing the song last played. I can't navigate or even activate "repeat" for this song.
b) In past versions - after having opened a track as described above - I could go on (show) "folder" in gmmp and then (re-)click the chosen song and then all the audio files in the respective folder were listed in the playlist. This was very handy, as I sometimes listen to audio books that have plenty of folders with plenty of audio tracks (about 5 min each) in one folder. And I might want to listen to all the tracks in one folder in a row... The album picture was displayed and I could navigate easily from file to file...
Using the function "folder" in the gmmp menu to select and open an audio file gives the same results.
The audios are on the extra storage, not on the phone.
There was nothing changed at the phone - it used to work fine with former versions of gmmp both ways: selecting the file in a folder using gmmp or using a filemanager app.
Since the release of the latest gmmp version a couple of months ago it doesn't work anymore. That's a real pity - as I currently I can't use gmmp to listen to my audio books and other audio files that I have stored in a extra folder, so they are not listed in the gmmp media library.
Getting this bug fixed would be a big help!
Thx

have you updated to 3.0.16?
3.0.16 (2021/05/12):
New: -Added ability to customize mini player gestures (advanced ui settings - mini player - customize gestures) -Added toast to indicate tempo changes via button / gesture
Fixes: -Fixed bug preventing artist art search from overriding previously chosen album art -Fixed issue parsing year from cue files -On queue completion -> stop will reset track position back to the start of the queue -Playing folders with .cue files should now correctly split into individual tracks -Playing folders with embedded cue files should now correctly split into individual tracks -Fixed issue displaying different metadata lines in portrait and landscape -Fixed issue playing files not already in the library -Fixed issue where playing song would appear blank in now playing -Fixed bug causing the wrong cue track to play
but yea that means the music you were trying to play is not scanned into gmmp's library. Settings -> Scanner -> Edit scan paths. Be sure every folder that contains music is covered there

Alright, thank you for your immediate reply... I took the time to apply some changes and see what happens.
When I had written the above message (from May 14) I had not updated to 3.0.16 yet. So that was the first thing that I did. => But this did not give any positive results.
Then I added the directories I've got my audiobooks and podcasts in to the respective folders in the scanner options. => That made a positive change. Now the album art is displayed while playing the audiobook/podcast files in GMMP and I can easily skip to the previous/next file in the respective folder. I'm very happy about that. Thank you!
But there's one problem remaining: When using the shuffle mode not only my music files (in there respective directory) are included in the playlist, but also the audiobooks and the podcasts in their respective directories. Is there a way to exclude them from the shuffle mode as - obviously - I don't want any files from an audiobook to pop up when want to listen to my music on shuffle mode.
I'd be very grateful for a solution here! Either an instruction (maybe I've overlooked something in the settings?) or a fix/additional option in future verions of GMMP Thank you in advance!

create a smart playlist that excludes your audiobook / podcast folders and shuffle that

I have a very similar problem (GMMP 3.1.2). I almost always use the browse folder function in GMMP to play tracks. I have one folder (I double-checked that it's in my scan list) that contains recordings from my sound board (.wav files, 16-bit, 48KHz, usually 20 - 30 minutes long - 200-350 MB, no embedded tag data). When I select a file from that folder, I get the symptoms described above. If the previously played song was short, I can only seek to the end time of the previous song. The correct song plays, it's just that the displayed data doesn't match the currently playing song. Just for fun, I restarted my phone yesterday, and the GMMP screen was blank except for the play/seek buttons. I'm pretty sure this was working correctly just a few months ago.

no tags might be the problem (failing to update the UI so the seekbar's length is not updated). Are you able to send me (email or you can pm me a link) some of the files you have issues with? I am unable to fix most issues unless they are reproducible. In the end gonemad music player is a music player and expects properly tagged music. I try my best to support all audio but playing untagged wav files was not the intent i had when building the app
"I'm pretty sure this was working correctly just a few months ago."
doubt it unless you were referring to 2.x which is essentially a completely different app. 3.0 was rebuilt from the ground up and shares maybe 5-10% of the same code, the rest is new.
