First of all, congratulations on the release of version 3.0, it looks really nice. I have a problem however that prevents me from upgrading. In my current phone the scanner randomly stops scanning and starts again. This also happened on version 2.x. I looked for information on how to solve the issue but found no solution. I can work around the issue in version 2.x if I select the option "Only scan new files". The scanner will restart a couple of times but will eventually finish when there are no more new files. The option is sadly gone from version 3.0, so the scanner will never finish. Please bring back the option or make scanning only new files the default behavior. Thanks in advance. GMMP 3.0 only scans files that have changed since the last scan making that old setting redundant. Android oreo added background limitations where jobs can only run for so long so on large collections the scanner will get killed by the OS and restarted. There is no way around that unfortunately. I have devices with 50k+ tracks and they will finish after a restart or 2

if you upgraded from 2.x you might need to delete the database and rescan. I mentioned this in my blog post regarding the new supported tags: "NOTE: If upgrading from 2.x, some of these new tags might not fully work until you delete the database and rescan. I tried to make the update painless but this was one area that I noticed some things not being picked up." I forgot to mention that I had tried that but it didn't work, I still got the same result. I will add that when I look at the Tag Editor for an album artist that does NOT have a separate sort tag in the file, the Album Artist Sort Order field is blank. I assumed this was because there was no actual sort field in the mp3 file, but looking again at your description of how the code works maybe it was supposed to be filled in with the album artist on scan? it fills it in in the database, but doesnt modify the actual tags which is what the tag editor displays

The option to play on select seems to be missing, or at least I can't find it anywhere. When I click on a playlist, I want it to play right away, I don't need to select from a context menu. This was on the previous version, will it be included in 3.0 at some point or am I missing it? Advanced Settings -> Library -> On Select * for the queue its Advaned Settings -> Library -> Queue -> On Select * Yeah I have that selected already, but it doesn't work when I select a playlist. When I hit a playlist, it just opens up and shows what's in the actual playlist without playing it; I don't need that because I made all the playlists

oh what is the sort order actually set to on the view? The Use Sort Tags option just replaces AlbumArtist with AlbumArtist Sort.. but if you are sorting by something other than Album Artist (in this case Date Added is the only other option)... its going to sort by that

I can add a separate setting similar to how the queue is handled

Thanks for your reply, however I'm still not sure how to do it. At your linked page I see options to change the font size, and the option to add a blank line such that lines will be further apart. But how do I get lines to be closer together? To clarify, right now in the artist list I can see 7 artist names in one phone screen, no matter how I set the font size. But I'd like to be able to see e.g. 15 artist at the same screen before I need to scroll down.

When I enter the sort value manually in the Tag Editor it works as expected (i.e I put in 'Beatles, The' and it sorts The Beatles with the B's) 2. For sort tags that were read into the database from the mp3 file it does NOT work (i.e 'Apple, Fiona' is pulled from the mp3 tag and shows in the Tag Editor but she still shows up with the F's) 3. If I then delete 'Apple, Fiona' in the Tag Editor and save, and then go back into Tag Editor and re-enter 'Apple, Fiona' manually it works as it should, sorting her with the A's. (Edit: I'm actually finding if I go into Tag Editor and change the sort value to anything other than what was there originally it registers that change and sorts correctly. So just deleting ', Fiona' for example so the sort value is just Apple works. But re-saving it as the same value does not work.) 4. I also noticed that if I go back in and reverse the change (so like in the first example I delete 'Beatles, The' from the sort tags) it doesn't revert back to sorting by 'T', it keeps sorting by 'B' even though the sort tag is now empty in the Tag Editor. Hope this is helpful. Thanks for your help with this! The fact that you even have this feature is fantastic, as this is how I have things sorted in pretty much all of the other music libraries I use.

The min size follows the material design guidelines

Thanks. Will look into it and see if i can reproduce it. When you get some time could you email me some of you previously tagged music with the sort tags that doesnt work. Im wondering if its unable to read the tags correctly sometimes. Pretty sure all my testing was using GMMP's tag editor to add it

Join google, advance high enough in the company that you have control over the design guidelines? heh developer.android.com/design + material.io/designIf you are asking if the minimum size can be adjusted in GMMP, the answer is no it cannot.

A couple questions, since I'm still getting used to the new settings.
How do I make the player auto-pause when I disconnect an AUX cable or headphones? This is only a minor thing of course, but it's something I've always been used to.
Also, I'm unsure how to turn on the lockscreen player again. I'm not talking about the default drag-down one, but rather the one activated through settings with the button that would allow you quick unlock your phone. I'd only been using it for a couple weeks before this big update, but I really liked the feature.

auto pause on disconnect should be enabled by default. advanced settings -> general -> connection -> auto pause
Lockscreen player is one of the few features completely gone. Google removed the ability to launch UIs from the background which is how the lockscreen player worked. I guess they considered it a security risk
