How is this tag used and if you had a composer view.. would it be similar to the artist view? Are composers associated with albums and tracks? or just tracks. I need to know how i should set up the database tables for it (adding to smart playlists in 3.0 alpha currently)

I need to know how i should set up the database tables for it (adding to smart playlists in 3.0 alpha currently) I don't use Composer tags at all, but If I'd use them I think it should be equal to the artists view (albums & tracks).

But the Albums view in the Artist view isn't really good imo.
I have many Albums which contain Tracks from Various Artists, and If you open an Album within the Artist view you see the whole Album and not just the Tracks from the corresponding Artists you chose before. (So you have to scroll through the whole Album to find the track of the specific artist manually. This gets really annoying if the Album contains a huge amount of Tracks..)

Artist tab actually shows album artist by default. Toggle it to artist in the menu. Compilations without the album artist tag will show up that way in when viewing album artists because no album can have more than one album artist so itll display all the album contents

I use the Composer tag for most of my regular albums that are set up by an organization that didn't actually perform on the album. For example, the MTV Unplugged series, I have Albums by the Artists Bryan Adams, Alice In Chains, KISS, etc. There are also some Various Artist compilations as well. But all fall under the MTV composer. Other examples are VH1, 20th Century Masters, Women & Songs, Time-Life, and other series.
Similarly for classical music, the Composer tag is used to indicate the original Composer, i.e. Beethoven, Bach, etc. The Album Artist tag is used to indicate the performers, like Erich Kunzel & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The Artist tag may still be different from track to track.
Hope this helps. I can send some examples if you need references.
Edit - To answer the other part of your question, I would set it up similar to the Album Artist view in the tab. Inside that I would further sort by Album Artist/Album/Track. At least that would be my personal preference! Thanks for the ongoing efforts! GB
