is anyone else getting the fast scroll bar / letter constantly showing? I just noticed it last night.. im guessing it had something to do with upgrading the support libs to androidx

Yes it constantly shows. Also the new Alpha 5a did not correct the fast scroll issue for me. The scroller still stops about halfway through the album list. At letter P when sorting by album name and and the same position relatively when using the other sort criteria. Thank you Brian

Thank you Brian no clue about this then. previously the scroller and album list contents potentially used different database queries. Now they use the same. The 7 or 8 phones i rotate testing on all fast scroll fine edit: do any of your albums name have non standard/english characters?

Filenames can be quite long and would most likely look fairly ugly which is why im hesitant in just throwing it on the top or bottom (and most people do not care at all about the filenames). Yeah you're right. I'd have 3 ideas to deal with it: 1. Make an Entry filename at the bottom of the Tageditor and just show about 15 characters (or sth. even shorter, depending on how it looks) and after that just [...]. Then make a Copy button (for example with Just the copy sign on it) next to the entry, which copy's the whole filename to the clipboard. 2. Make an Entry filename at the bottom of the Tageditor and make the filename scrollable to the left and right, so not the whole filename is shown at once. (For example Chrome/Chromium etc. on Android uses this behavior on the adressbar) 3. Make an option in the folder viewer "copy filename", which copy's the filename of the selected file to the clipboard. no when it saves the information into the database. It wont store a blank trackname, but use the filename instead. Ah okai. But this happens just in the database, am I right? So the Filename won't get written into the ID3-Tag? (I could imagine if it would write it directly into the tag, it could cause some unwanted things in the Tags)

yea the only thing that writes to the tags is the tag editor and changing ratings (ratings not being in the alpha yet). Scanner is read only

No some of them have quotation marks, commas or exclamation marks. Oddly the fast scroll worked one time after switching to 5a and then stopped after that

k.. multi album artist is fixed locally. The changes made in 5/5a messed up the scanners existing artist search.. so for each album it wouldnt see that the album artist already existed so it would create a new one. When 5b comes out u'll have to delete the database and rescan

No some of them have quotation marks, commas or exclamation marks. Oddly the fast scroll worked one time after switching to 5a and then stopped after that it looks like its related to using the grid vs list. The list shows the letter fine but the grid does not

You are exactly right. You are an excellent developer who is attentive to your users and who takes great pride in your work. This player will be amazing when finished. I just know it

I just know it Thanks I figured it out and fixed it locally. It was specific to using the grid and having a lot of albums. 5b should be tonight unless something else major pops up

When changing tracks using the notification while another app has focus, the main Now Playing text details refresh, but album art remains as the same as the last playing. Changing tracks in Now Playing does update correctly, and tracking back afterwards also updates correctly.
Alpha 5b on LG G5, running Oreo.
