I tried and bought the unlocked GMMP because it offers several features other android players don't. However, I cannot let it play flac files even other players play them without any problems (e.g., Poweramp, PlayerPro...). Whenever I tried to play a flac file, GMMP would just quit. The compatibility check shows flac filetype supported, and I also tried to disable equalizer and gapless playback, but got no improvement. Please help to suggest any solutions. Thank you!

GMMP uses the official flac decoder and i've never had any reports of issues with playback up until now.. so what device do you have and what version of android. I will also need logs from your device when you try to play the flac file.. but I need to know which version of android you are running before i can tell you how to get the logs

My phone is Asus PadFone Mini 4.3 running Android 4.3. Thanks! okay cool. In your system settings you will want to enable developer options (these instructions are not specific to the s4 so it should work on your device): gs4.wonderhowto.com/how-to/enable-hidden-developer-options-your-samsung-galaxy-s4-0146687/In the developer options there is an option for "take bug report" or something similar to that. If that is greyed out you will need to scroll down and enable usb debugging. At this point you will want to open up gmmp, play a flac, let it crash, then open up the developer options and select take report. This may take a few minutes but you should then be prompted that the report is done.. you can then send it to my email (gonemadsoftware@gmail.com)

It's strange that there is no further response after I press "Take bug report". I'll try again later. However, right after GMMP crashes, I'm asked to send out the report (to your site and Google?) Can you receive that report?

it looks like its related to extracting album art from the flac file. Is your embedded album art really high resolution?

The album art file is normally 1200x1200 for my MP3 and FLAC files. Should I try to remove or change the album art?

I'll have to wait til im home to look at the error report in detail but it was dying in the code that retrieves the album art from a flac file

Yes, I just remove the album art (1080x1080) from a FLAC file, and it plays fine now. So maybe I'll try to use smaller artwork file size for now. Meanwhile, can you fix this bug? I still wish to be able to use bigger artwork. Thanks for your help!

yup i will definitely try
I looked on my developer console and there are a good amount of users affected by the issue (most bug reports are supposed to be routed to another bug reporting tool i use so i dont check the android developer console often)
I should definitely be able to fix the crash.. as to whether the album art can get loaded or not.. that is a different story. Android apps are limited to the amount of memory they can use and high resolution imagery can use A LOT of memory. Normally the solution is to just downscale the artwork into something manageable.. but to do that you still need enough memory to load the image. It'll take some more investigation to determine

I believe i fixed it but i do not have any files that can reproduce the issue. I tried embedding large art into a flac but it gets handled correctly (it wont show cuz its too large but it wont crash)

I've sent you an email with the Google Drive download link. Besides, I should add that the flac file actually contains more than one album art. I used Foobar2000 to embed (1) Front cover 750x750 354kB (2) Back Cover 1080x1080 523kB (3) Icon 1080x1080 490kB. And later when I kept only the same Front cover pic and removed the other two pics, GMMP can play it and show the album art without any problem.

I am preparing to move into a new place, so it probably wont be for a week or so until i have a true fix (basically until i get internet at the new place and im moved in). The next update that will be released tonight just checks to make sure the tagging library was able to successfully create enough memory for the album art before it was returned.. so im not sure if it will fix your case specifically.
