I have just installed the latest version which apparently should have album art in the album list however all I am getting is the generic gmmp icon next to every album. I rescanned the database just in case that was anything to do with it but obviously not. Album art is still showing correctly in the "Now Playing" screen

is all your album art embedded into the files? I dont have a solution currently for that. Since the art is associated to the song and not the actual album and those lists only know information about the actual albums. It would take a bunch more processing to figure out which song file to grab the art from, which would slow things down.
Its pretty high on my list of things to address in the next patch
In the meantime you can turn off the album art in the lists in the preferences. Preferences -> Library -> Album Library -> Show Album Art

Yeah, that will be the reason, all my art is embedded by iTunes. I'll just have to wait until you can fix it.
