Substancial Delay when Skipping Tracks

Since updating to 3.1.3 I have encountered a persistent 8-10 second delay between when I tell the player to skip to the next song and the track actually changing. There are very rare occasions (maybe less than 1 in 50 times) when there is not a delay and I am then able to skip songs 3 or 4 times before the delay starts again.

This behaviour appears to occur if the queue is empty (I have the player set to Play Random at end of Queue), when I am in Auto DJ mode and there are at least 20 songs loaded in the queue, when an entire album is in the queue (shuffled or not) or when I add songs to the queue manually. Indeed, I cannot find a way of getting the player to skip tracks (using the forward button or the hardware key) without a lengthy delay before the next song plays.

Thinking it might be something to do with the settings I have been using I have: reduced Playback Buffer Size to 'minimum', Payback Priority to 'Normal', Decoding Priority to 'Normal' and DSP Priority to 'Normal'. This does not appear to have made any difference.

I only noticed this problem recently, after updating to 3.1.3, having used the player in the same way, with the same settings, same library of music etc. for some considerable time (much to my great enjoyment, I should add - so thank you!).

All my music files are MP3s...most are 320K 44.1 though some older ones are lower quality. I have a library arranged on a 1TB Micro SD card ARTIST/ALBUM/SONGS. It's a relatively large library, over 1700 artists and 10,000 albums - I'm old and have been collecting a LONG time :-). But the size of the library has not substantially changed in a long time, nor has it caused a problem with your excellent software.

Any thoughts??

Not that it should matter in this case but you shouldnt be messing with those priorities at all. Its was put in 10 years ago for super low end phones that might struggle to process the audio fast enough (which would cause stuttering). Go back to the defaults which is the 2nd highest for playback priority and above normal for the other 2. I plan on hiding those settings in a future update

that being said there has been no changes at all that would have affected how long it takes to transition. i am able to literally mash the next button and it constantly changes tracks. I would recommend clearly the apps cache / data and giving it a try on all the default settings and see if that helps. If it works fine then it was either something getting corrupted in an update (android isnt exactly the greatest at updating apps cleanly) or a setting you had previously changed

Cleared the CACHE - and reset the priorities as advised - and all seems to be back to normal. Excellent!! So Happy. :-)

BTW - if I clear the DATA (which I didn't do because of the warnings the Android offered) do I lose anything important (like my database, EQ settings etc.)??

it'll wipe database and settings/preferences but those can be backed up beforehand using the backup/restore options in the settings. EQ presets are stored on storage and will stay around (/storage/gmmp/eq)

I've cleared the Cache only and that seems to have solved the problem. I'll not delete Data unless I absolutely have to. Thank you again.

Should there be a reset to default option for now, or maybe if these will be hidden in the future have that version force the reset? Just in case a user has previously made adjustments in error that would affect performance.

they'll get reset to the defaults once hidden (which will be in 3.2)
