Whenever I scan the library or remove missing files or any other activity that takes place manually I get no indication that the player is working. No circling arrow, nor hourglass, nor a text saying its busy. Am I missing something or is there a setting that needs to be turned on to see the indicator? It would be nice to know the software is doing what's been initiated. Thanks

your manual scans are most likely not doing anything as new music and music changes are automatically scanned in the background. Some activities have a progress bar in the toolbar that will show. What in particular are you referring to?
"No circling arrow, nor hourglass, nor a text saying its busy."
Google's guidelines specifically say not to do that

Mainly I was referring to when I perform a manual scan. There is no indication that there is any activity related to the scan occurring.
I guess I can just assume that I can run GMMP and it will continue to scan in the background while the player is playing music?

manual scans always show a notification, however scans are queued and if there is a silent automatic scan going on in the background, the manual scan doesnt start until after is finished. A manual scan that doesnt find any files will hide its notification afterwards, so even if the notification was visible.. it would only be for a short period of time
