For the customize button on the Now Playing screen. There's play next/previous, also seek forwards/backwards. But what I'd really like to do is on button press jump back/forward 10 seconds. Did I miss where I could do this? I've been with GoneMad Music player, I don't even know, at least five years it seems like. This new update is actually amazing, especially visually. I already bought the app forever ago, but do you have somewhere I can donate? Seek Forward and Seek Back buttons can be added in the customize menu. Seek time is customizable somewhere in the settings. settings -> audio -> seek time? Donations can be sent to my developer email address through paypal

I have not looked to see if this is something you have planned. Are we going to get a scroll bar in the folder view? I'm okay with it not pulling data to show things like ratings, but it sure takes awhile to get to the 'T's or 'W's.

Hello. I have been a user of GMMP for years and I find it easily the best player for Android that I ever tried (and I purchased a couple other). I realized this morning that I got automatically 3.0 and this is why a bunch of stuff did not work anymore as usual. I confess that I was not thrilled, but eventually I started reconfiguring everything as I like it and now I am almost done. In the end, I must admit that it is great! I have a couple of issues and I am not sure whether I missed something, they are bugs, or I should file a feature request. So, let me try here first: - I have been editing the "Displayed Metadata" custom entries by changing the JSON files directly. It is perfectly fine for me, but I wonder if there is any other way inside GMMP. I can create them from GMMP but I do not see any way to edit an existing custom entry once it is saved. Did I miss something?
- I tried to use %cp% in the queue (custom_queue_metadata.json) and then I realized that it is not available there--and it is documented correctly. Yet, it makes no sense to me that %cp% is not available in every place where, say, %al% or %fn% are available. Can this be fixed?
- The "Context Menus" of the Folders contain a list of options. Now, I love the new feature "Enable Menu Options" available almost everywhere--but it is not available there! It is a pity, because Folders is essentially the only view I use to select music and I would like to get rid of all these options I never use, do not need, and are only a source of mistakes when I am in a hurry.
- I use the option to stop when the queue is finished ad it works fine. But when it stops it remains on the last track and if I restart (because I have no time to fill the queue with new stuff) I only play the last track over and over. With other music players I am used to "stop but point to the first track" so that if I restart I get the full queue again--maybe until I find the time to reload the queue. Is there an option for this or would it be possible to change the behaviour of the stop option?
Thanks for a great player--and the only one which is friendly to classic music with composers, opus names, movements, etc. p.

I am hoping you are talking about folder name and not filename tho. All music in a single folder would be a headache! I always tended to do Letter/Artist/Album/Tracks to keep folder navigation nice and quick

Hitting the next button when on the last track of the queue should jump back to the top currently. I agree that if its auto stopped at the end it makes sense to change the position back to the beginning

I have 1704 composers in separate folders and looking for Zimmermann is not supercomfortable!
Very very minor problem (and not one which has a universally satisfying solution) but the collation of folder names now places "Šerkšnytė, Raminta (b. 1975)" after "Zimmermann, Bernd Alois (1918-1970)" which is really not great. Even some naive solutions (placing any letter with diacritic marks after the letter without marks, or ignoring diacritic marks when sorting) would work better.

Great! Thanks for the superfast answer. Editing JSON is perfectly fine with me. For the rest, I guess there is a chance that these things will be taken care eventually--that would be swell!

sorting is done via whats built into the java/kotlin apis for sorting (for folders/files) or whats built into the database (for the library views). GMMP just tells it what text or field to sort. For the library views you can look into using the sort tags. Pretty sure there is a composer sort field In general its not wise to use non standard characters in folder and filename for that very reason

But I am not trying to argue--in ten years or so every library which sorts UTF-8 strings will have at least a semidecent and pragmatic collation algorithm. I can wait, it is really not a big deal!

COMPOSERSORT works perfectly... if you access your music via library functionality instead of folders. You can list "Ludwig van Beethoven" (no need to swap first/lastname in the display tag) under "B". That's what a database is for. The entries for COMPOSERSORT can be batch generated from COMPOSER entries. "Šerkšnytė, Raminta" would still need to be adjusted to "Serksnyte, Ramita" but the tweak is nowhere to be seen. And there are ways to automate this too, it it affects a lot of artists or composers. I've decided to sort all my compilation albums under "ÿÿÿÿ - %album%" (character #255) via ALBUMSORT for example. It works perfectly for me. I'm glad GMMP offers great database functionality – I've decided to make great use of database functionality.

I may still prefer accessing music through the Folder interface as it gives me full flexibility in using subgenres (Beethoven > Orchestral) and handling some odd situations, but your point is taken. Let me still point out that, out of the box, Ubuntu's "ls", for instance, places Šerkšnytė after Semjonow and before Sermisy. I find this a better default UTF-8 collation behaviour than sorting by code points.

I am having some issues on version 3.0.4: - Theme Accent Color changes have no effect if Advanced Settings is on; changes work if Advanced Settings are off. - Theme Accent Color is not changed when restoring settings. This can possibly be related to the bug above, since Advanced Settings must be enabled to restore settings. - Artist Artwork is not shown in the Artists or Album Artists library views using a structure /.../Artist/Folder.jpg after deleting the database and rescanning. It was shown in previous versions. Clicking on the Artwork menu displays the correct artwork in the folder, it is just not shown in the library view. Album artwork with the structure /.../Artist/Album/Folder.jpg is shown correctly. - Lyrics are not displayed for some files, just a blank background, irregardless of the base UI theme. I could not find a pattern to identify the files that work and those that do not. Despite these minor annoyances, GoneMAD is still the best music player for Android. I find those 1 star reviews unfair, people are just resistant to change. Is there a link to version 3.0.3? I would rather rescan in 3.0.3 and update afterwards than manually set the artwork for the artists

FYI 3.0 does support multiple genres.. not sure if that is a viable option to help organize stuff in the library. Also smart playlists can be turned into tabs.. giving you basically a custom view. so that allows for a lot of flexibility.

This can possibly be related to the bug above, since Advanced Settings must be enabled to restore settings." yea i should have a bug on trello already for that. Theming was handled by another library and it stores its configurations in a different settings file which is why i assume it doesnt get restored. It dont expect it to be too difficult to fix " - Artist Artwork is not shown in the Artists or Album Artists library views using a structure /.../Artist/Folder.jpg after deleting the database and rescanning. It was shown in previous versions. Clicking on the Artwork menu displays the correct artwork in the folder, it is just not shown in the library view. Album artwork with the structure /.../Artist/Album/Folder.jpg is shown correctly." I did make some tweaks.. which i thought would make it more flexible but i guess not. Still weird that it shows when manually viewing it since they use the same searches. /.../Artist/Album/Folder.jpg is definitely the structure that should be used. That or /.../Artist/Album/Artist.jpg. I'll figure it out. I had to juggle around a lot of code quickly due to all the really bad scanner issues some users were having " - Lyrics are not displayed for some files, just a blank background, irregardless of the base UI theme. I could not find a pattern to identify the files that work and those that do not." Email me a file that doesnt show and i can look at it. I think i had one other user email me one that was having issues but i havent looked at it yet. I'm not a user of lyrics so the only test data i had was some that i tagged myself, or that users sent me due to previous issues. So lets just say my test sample count is pretty small. If the UI is blank it sounds like it sees that there are lyrics present.. but is failing when parsing the lyrics. I assume the tag editor will show the lyrics? "Is there a link to version 3.0.3? I would rather rescan in 3.0.3 and update afterwards than manually set the artwork for the artists " i can post the apk for 3.0.3.. assuming android studio didnt wipe my build directory. What device do you have so i can get you the right apk? (if you know the version code of gmmp that would also work.. its most likely 90000 something or 40000 something)

I see your point. I was just referring to the "1704 composers in separate folders", but you're correct – for larger collections of classical music the folder structure is the database... mine is like ...\E\3 Barock\Bach\4 Chr\Messe Bm BWV 232\Shaw, Atlanta Symph. Orch.+Ch. Chr. (Telarc 1990)\… (and BTW "5.3.4 Barock Chr" is one of my genres, others are "5.4.1 Klassik Orch" or "5.5.6 Romantik Pno"). Back on topic: For general purpose I'd still like to encourage to do a shift in mindset, from "playing files" to "accessing a database"... and that includes tagging ARTISTSORT, COMPOSERSORT and so on. It works perfectly with GMMP.
