I have a ton of music on my phone, and everything tagged correctly. Though I do have all artists/bands that have The at the start I have reversed it so now it's like Eagles, The. I have this on Artist and Album artist. I started doing this when using the likes of iTunes and MediaMonkey so I don't have a ton of artists all showing The at the start. But I am wondering if I put The at the start of Album Artist is that what shows on the phone when a track is playing or does it use the Artist?

There are a couple of options for you regarding your tags starting with articles like A, An, and The. First, there is an option in GMMP to do this. In the lists for Album, Artist, Album Artist, and Composer you can choose the modifier at the top of the list and choose ignore prefixes. This works for most libraries in the simple form. You mentioned you are using iTunes. You may be aware that there is another set of tags available known as sort fields. These are available for the same tags above. But allows a more complex way to sort your library. For your example with The Eagles, you could leave both the artist and album artist tags as "The Eagles" but use a sort tag as "Eagles" without the prefix. However this also means you can use artist names sorted by last name, first name. So the artist tags would be "Don Henley" but the sort tag "Henley, Don" would be used. To enable this the sort tags need to be filled in, and use the modifier in GMMP "use sort tags" at the top. This is done on iOS devices, but as far as I know, only GMMP has enabled this sorting feature on Android. Works great!
