Hello! First and foremost: thanks for handling so many of the features I suggested and little issues I discovered in 3.1.3! I tried %cp% in custom_queue_metadata.json and it works perfectly. Great! A problem I still have is that you say "Composer variable added to track list, album details, bookmark view, and queue view" and I would think this means also in custom_albumlist_metadata.json, where it is most important to me (because of Smart searches of classical works = albums where it is essential to know the composer). Yet, it seems to be still missing there, as is %fo% (which, with the fixed substr() would make it possible for me to extract the composer). Here is my custom_albumlist_metadata.json: [ { "markupLines": [ ["<align=left><size=16>cp is %cp%"], ["<align=left><size=16>fo is %fo%"], ["<align=left><size=16>fn is %fn%"], ["<align=left><size=16>fp is %fp%"], ["<align=left><size=14>al is %al%"], ["<align=left><size=12>ar is <i>%ar%</i>"] ] } ] And here is the result:
Am I doing something wrong? p.

album list is not one of "track list, album details, bookmark view, and queue view"
Given the time frame i worked on this last update it was only feasible to add %cp% to track based views. I'll get to the others where it makes sense eventually. They just involve more work

Oh, thanks! No problem. I did not appreciate the difference "album list" and "album details"....
Best,

the "* details" views/screens are when you select an album / artist / composer / etc and it shows the contents of that selection

Is it possible to display the "Original Year" in custom metadata in album view?
I like to order albums by year, but if they've been remastered etc the order uses the newer date.
Is there anyway of showing or ordering via the original year?

Hello, first post in this forum. Very thank you all for the info brought to this thread. In these following two screenshots I intend to show that more real-state space is needed to provide the info stored inside the files: This metadata json file was compiled with info provided from this thread: metadata-00.json (1.07 KB)
Does anybody knows if it would be possible to resize those elements?

The play element shouldn’t be resized, it is one of the main UI features and is important. The album artwork already resizes in portrait mode, in landscape this isn’t usually required as the space on the other side is sufficient for stand tags. Plus the dev may confirm but I believe the artwork is also part of the gesture window for running those actions. Your comment field contains far more text than is expected for normal Now Playing information. I would suggest reducing the font size for that line, or possibly even the other tags as well, in order to make space.

Thanks for replying this. I remember reading(perhaps in this thread also) that gmmp will handle custom tags soon and maybe then it would handle all that info. And there is more: I'm willing to tag my music with info about arrangers, producers, mixers and other studio staff involved. Also, there are tracks in form of pot-pourri, several songs from several composers and, sometimes, each one by a different artist, so that fields would certainly use more tha one line too.
Making the font size smaller is what i use to do in gmmp classic (version 2.x) but my glasses set a limit to this option. I've tried to not show the cover art at all but the space where it was located stays occupying the screen... (in portrait position).
it would surely help If a resource like a marquee or a ticker could be set in these cases... I think that it is different from the scroll resource that someone had already requested, which the dev has yet stated that he would not implemet it..

No not soon. I said maybe eventually but the roadmap is clearly stated on trello. I'm working on rewriting the tagging stuff for 4.0 + the new engine, but thats something im just doing from time to time on the side with no ETA

Marquee is not possible without a lot of work on my end. The built in android marquee is insanely buggy and does not do what you want it to and i have no plans on writing a custom one
That being said in layout 2 the album art should resize based off the size used for the metadata (i havent tested this in awhile but thats how it originally worked) in portrait, but not in landscape. That is fixed size. If artwork is disabled in landscape it will give you the entire screen for metadata tho.
I try to provide as much customizability as possible but its only feasible to do that to a certain point without making tons more work for myself. If it hasnt been clear from other posts i made, I dont make a living off this app so its just a hobby. Its just not possible to meet everyone's needs. I am not aware of any other app that comes even remotely close to GMMP when it comes to customizing displayed metadata

fcgSo I did a bit of testing for this. If you make a couple of setting changes; 1. Customize>Album Art>Off 2. Customize>Background> (adjust to your preference, I set it to Blurred, reduced to Radius and Downsample to minimum, and brightness to about 20-25% - darker may be better but less visible if the artwork matters to you) This removes the album art from the main UI and opens up space for your tags, including potentially the large comments field. The artwork is still visible but is moved to the background. You may need to make further changes to the text if you are using dynamic or fixed colours, as the artwork may wash it out unless you make it pretty dark. This works in both portrait and landscape modes. This is the only way I could find to make more room available. One last note - I believe most tag text fields are limited to 255 characters or less. This may not apply to the comments in spec, but might be by some/most media players.

Most of the tags use the KLV standard or similar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KLV), so the text length if built in
