I’m using Android Auto (AA) in a 2020 GMC Sierra with GoneMad Music Player (GMMP) as my media player. When I connect my Android phone via Bluetooth and not AA, I can navigate to my playlists using the steering wheel buttons and the driver display. When I connect via AA, I can no longer navigate to the playlists by the steering wheel controls, but can find them by using the Infotainment screen while GMMP is playing. So my first question is, is that how it should be?
The second part of my question is when using Google Assistant (GA) voice commands with GMMP playing via AA. GG will find and play artists and songs I request, but I can't figure out how to instruct GA voice commands to play one of my GMMP playlists. Has anyone been successful in using GA voice commands to get GA to play GMMP playlists and if so, would you help me understand how to correctly ask GA to do this? It seems to work in the Google Play Music (GPM) app - I can start a GPM playlist via GA on AA, but I love my GMMP app and don't want to change music apps on my Android phone just to get GA to play my GMMP playlists via AA.
I understand that this is really a GA/AA issue, but I am hoping to find some faithful GMMP users who may have figured this out as I am not getting any love from the GA boards. MG

Android auto is a google app so i dont control anything related to AA other than populating it with stuff to play and responding to control commands
GA does not reliably send playlist searches. Gmmp just receives an intent which says the type of search and the fields to search for. Its up to GA to correctly populate that search and quite frankly its garbage at doing that. But regarding playlists ive never seen a playlist search intent get received by gmmp

And do you mean you are able to retrieve GMMP playlists using the voice command feature of GA? Thanks, MG
