Just wanted to know before I update, if I saw that correctly the newest beta is now able to show the rating in now playing (like in 2.x)?

nah not yet. The custom metadata has a lot of possibilities but its limited to a few fields for the time being. The markup language backing it is not yet fully developed. I'll be exposing more over the beta. Rating in particular (as stars) is a bit of a specialized case

It's the only thing which made me not switch to alpha or beta yet.

Would it be possible to re-add the Volume Up and Volume Down gestures? The volume knob in my car has been broken and I use those gestures all the time. The on-screen volume control is OK but not easy to use without taking my eyes off the road.

I have them commented out currently (for a reason that isnt coming to me at the moment), but i planned on adding them back. You can use a 2 finger slide up and down to adjust volume currently

You can use a 2 finger slide up and down to adjust volume currently Thanks! One thing I'm noticing is that on my phone (OnePlus 7 Pro, T-Mobile version, Android 10) is that the two-finger volume slide is inverted - I slide up on the screen and the volume decreases (and vice-versa) which seems a bit counter-intuitive.

3.0 beta 2a full version
I have been adding album art manually from files downloaded to my phone: (go to Library > select Albums > context menu for an album > click on Album Art > click "art icon" > select image from Downloads folder). It was working fine (when I select a file from Downloads, I am returned to the Albums view in Library and the new picture loads into the album art) until about three days ago. Now when I follow the above steps, it take me back to the Album Art view with only the default None showing, as if I just backed out of the Downloads screen.
I have also tried adding art from Dropbox and Drive rather than the Galaxy 10's Downloads, but the behavior is the same. I have restarted, cleared cache.
Thanks for your amazing app!

Well i havent pushed any updates in a few weeks so something changed on your phone. The art icon opens an external app to do the selection, so i am guessing that is returning something different or is no longer compatible. Did you change apps that it launches?

I'm assuming it's the default file chooser in Android - there's not a way I know of to change what gets used for picking files, so I guess something has changed in Android.

looks like its due to the horrid scope storage changes. not sure when it'll be fixed as i'll most likely have to rewrite a bunch of stuff
fyi you can just select images instead of downloads and then go to the download folder to select the image. That still works

3.0 Beta 2a: - loading of a large playlist takes 8 Minutes - response is ultra slow, boken at times (Next song) and shuffle doesn't work at all. - Shuffle over all (without playlist, orange shuffle in 2.x) is missing.
-> Unusable for me.

"- loading of a large playlist takes 8 Minutes"
are you talking about editing or playing? 2a can load and play a 40k song playlist is about 15 seconds max on a low end moto e4. Editing a playlist will still take a long time but this is mentioned in the changelogs. Performance will be improved in future betas
"response is ultra slow, boken at times (Next song) and shuffle doesn't work at all."
most likely due to the large playlists, actions are queued, so if songs are still being added to the queue, future actions will not apply until thats all done. Otherwise i've never seen anything remotely like that. Queues of 50k loaded from the library respond instantly
"- Shuffle over all (without playlist, orange shuffle in 2.x) is missing." Shuffle collection was removed. Use auto dj or library 3 dot menu -> shuffle all
" -> Unusable for me. " you can go back to 2.x. Once 3.0 is released i'll still keep 2.x downloads available on my blog
