I've been using the pro version for years but since getting my new Samsung S10e, loading music folders sometimes takes a minute or longer. I thought this was due due to a bigger sd card and more songs on it but other music programs will load the same music folders instantly. Sorting by album/artist/song works fine, just loading folders takes a long time

what sort order are you using. Any of the sorting options that use the tags has to read every file before displaying. Also other apps might be storing the folder structure in a database which would load immediately. GMMP reads straight from the file system every time

I'm using trackname asc...guess there's not much I can do if it has to read through all the files every time. A larger cache might help

Either rename your files to match the trackname or use a non tag based sort if you have folders with a lot of files (why do you have massive folders btw.. people with large collections usually organize by artist/album/tracks) edit: also try the 3.0 alpha. everything is rewritten so it might be faster (all tags get cached when read.. cant remember the size but its in the hundreds for sure)

I listen to lots of different genres so I sort my songs that way. I dj so it's the easiest way to find my tracks. I do have a lot of rock/rap/dj mix albums that are easy to find, it's mostly finding my singles. I'll give that beta a whirl, thanks

Using tags is much more flexible (you could generate smart playlists to group multiple genres together if needed without moving files)

Yeah, genre tag will work, I've already tagged 95% through itunes so I just need to tag a couple hundred newer tracks and I'm good to go! Thanks for the help, glad I can keep using GMMP!
