I just synced my phone with my music collection on my laptop and my playlists have randomly disappeared from GMMP. I've tried syncing them as both M3U and PLS and they still won't show up. They're showing up fine on both Samsung Music player and Google Music.
I've tried rescanning my phone on GMMP and deleting and reinstalling the app but neither of these has made a difference. It's locating all the songs OK but no playlists. Any advice?

copy your m3us to any folder that the scanner can see and it should show up in the app

I had a similar problem upon installation and first use of the app. Probably not the same scenario as above, but I'm going to place my comments here.
I installed the app (vs 1.6.8) and got my playlists all set up and thought everything was great. It was late, so I turned my phone off for the night. So, the next time I went to use GMMP I found that my playlists were all gone. The 'Folder' list was there, but the 'Playlist' list was empty. I experimented a little and found that every time I did a power cycle on the phone the playlists I built would be gone.
I thought maybe GMMP was losing the location of the playlists for some reason, so what I decided to do was create a new, dedicated playlist folder on my external sd card at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/playlists.
Next, I went into the ‘Scan’ section, Preferences>Scanner>Open scanner>Edit Scan Paths, and provided the path to the folder where the actual music files are stored which is: /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Music. I have multiple folders below 'Music', but scan found them all, so it must automatically search subdirectories.
Next, I went into the 'Playlist' section, Preferences>Playlist>Playlist Storage path, and provided the path to the new folder I created to store my playlists (see above).
Note that there is no ‘Browse’ function here, so you have to manually type in the path (at least in the version I have).
After doing these things I find that my playlists no longer disappear. What I do find, though, is that sometimes when I start the phone the lists may not display immediately, it might take a little bit for them to display. I don't think this is a GMMP issue, though, I think the phone is just lagging for some reason.
There might be better solutions, but the above is what I found solved the problem for me.

playlists default to being written in /storage/gmmp/playlists. If they are disappearing, something is deleting those files (gmmp just writes m3u files there.. if they show up in the app that means they are currently on the storage). I'd imagine that directory might get cleaned out by those "garbage cleaner" apps. If you have one of those be sure /storage/gmmp is on the excluded list
