Lockscreen: Great! GMMP is now my primary Music Player on Android! [edit]You should disable the hardware menu key: None of the menu items (Shuffle, Jump To Time, Volume, Sleep) work while the screen is locked.[/edit] "long press of next / prev will change folders": I never use folders to select music. So while playing anything (chosen by tags) if I long press forward I will hear some "random" music since there is no "next folder". My current playlist is then gone and replaced by something else :-( The worst thing is: keeping back pressed will not bring me back to it. So maybe make that long-press-thing optional? When I've selected one folder to play it seems to work as expected though! Don't know if people need it, but since the option is there anyway: Maybe add smaller font sizes than the default one? Maybe also ignor "A" (or even custom prefixes for other languages?) and not only with the artist but also genre, album and song. The 4x4 Widget works fine but a lot of space is wasted since the album art is still very small. Could you add a 4x1 widget some time? I currently use the 4x2 squeezed to 4x1: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/gmmpwidget4x2as4x1.png/ (using ADW.Launcher) But it could look something like this and still contain every important information: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/51/gmmpwidgetnative4x1.png/(Maybe add an option for a fully transparent background while you're at it?) You could add Jump To Time, Sleep and especially Volume control to the Customizable Gestures. (Unrelated to the update: Shouldn't "Now Playing - Background" affect the current tracks Info text too?) [edit] As far as I can tell after a few tries „Music Service Timeout“ works flawless! Another minor thing: Could you change the text “Touch To Start” on the Widget (while the service is not running) to something like “Touch To Start GMMP”? Or better yet: show the usual player controls without any song info (“GMMP” as Track title?) and maybe the GMMP logo as cover. That way no words are needed to know what that widget does and how to use it. The logo in the status bar is 1 pixel to big: At least on my Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.3.3 it draws over the grey line below the status bar. imageshack.us/photo/my-images/3/gmmpstatusbar.png/[/edit]

great feedback "You should disable the hardware menu key: None of the menu items (Shuffle, Jump To Time, Volume, Sleep) work while the screen is locked." Wasnt aware the menu button did anything.. i'll definitely disable that "long press of next / prev will change folders": I never use folders to select music. So while playing anything (chosen by tags) if I long press forward I will hear some "random" music since there is no "next folder". My current playlist is then gone and replaced by something else :-( The worst thing is: keeping back pressed will not bring me back to it. So maybe make that long-press-thing optional?" yeah i can make that optional smaller font sizes would be easier to put in.. but like you said im not sure if anyone would actually need that "Maybe also ignor "A" (or even custom prefixes for other languages?) and not only with the artist but also genre, album and song." there is a lot that can be done with this... im keeping it simple to start. Having it work for genre and album would probably work well, but for the song view that may slow things down a bit since it has to process every single entry before it can sort. A device with tons of song might lag even more when listing everything. Yeah i can do a 4x1. I took another look at the 4x4 and it seems that some album covers show up smaller. The ones I tested with would take up at least half of the widget, but I just tried another album and it showed up fairly small. My intent was keeping the album art large, so there must be a bug "You could add Jump To Time, Sleep and especially Volume control to the Customizable Gestures." Would you just want the gesture bring up the dialog for jump to time/sleep? "(Unrelated to the update: Shouldn't "Now Playing - Background" affect the current tracks Info text too?)" That was meant for the space behind the album art. Older versions of the OS didnt display the gradient very well so the option was there to just make it black instead. "Another minor thing: Could you change the text “Touch To Start” on the Widget (while the service is not running) to something like “Touch To Start GMMP”? Or better yet: show the usual player controls without any song info (“GMMP” as Track title?) and maybe the GMMP logo as cover. That way no words are needed to know what that widget does and how to use it." I thought the gmmp logo in the center was enough to understand what it does The widget stuff will probably be reworked at some point. The reason why the "Touch To Start" shows when the MusicService is running is because the service needs to be started for the widget to work correctly. Since pressing the album art typically launches GMMP into now playing, I didnt want it to also start the music service. I've found giving something 2 different behaviors can confuse users. It's not the greatest design but it works for the time being. I'll verify the icon meets the guidelines google set up. I think 2.3 handles things different than 2.2 and earlier. That might be why

That was meant for the space behind the album art. Older versions of the OS didnt display the gradient very well so the option was there to just make it black instead. On my phone the gradient looks fine. Didn't know that was the reason. I chose black just because I like it better than gray. (The more black background the more "brilliant" the album art.) Yep. (And the same goes for the volume.) It does. Don't make that a priority.

oh so you would rather have a gesture to bring up the dialog instead of a "vol up" and "vol down" gesture? i could see swipe up and down being used to control volume

oh so you would rather have a gesture to bring up the dialog instead of a "vol up" and "vol down" gesture? i could see swipe up and down being used to control volume I guess both could be usefull. The Dialog for a quick and drastic change and "vol up" und "vol down" gestures for changing just a few percent. Don't know... since it's customizable... let the users decide and give them both options...?

beta bug report
If i delete the file in the browser while it is playing, and summoned the menu on any other track (with the intention to press play), but not selected any item in the menu and the (deleted) track ends playing, the player hangs.
By the way, thank you for the delete function and for the option to control warnings.
p.s. Maybe it is not hard for you to implement highlighting the playing item in filebrowser?

so you deleted the file that was currently playing?
highlighting the current playing file shouldnt be hard to put in. I am not sure if it would slow down navigation at all... so that is something i'll have to play around with

Yes, i deleted the currently playing file. I think it would be good if the player automatically "play next" or "stop" if it's the last file...

yeah it should handle it better.. there is nothing currently that checks to see if the deleted file is currently playing or next to play.. both need to be handled accordingly
thanks for the report

Beta 2: www.mediafire.com/?zf8cskqd9gcottdI fixed/changed some of the things mentioned in this thread. I'll get to some more before pushing 1.1 to the market and some of the suggested changes will be addressed in the 1.1.x patches. Also I did not include any updated translations so be sure to check to make sure the language is complete on www.getlocalization.com/gonemadmusicplayer/ since a few more things were added in beta 2 that need translation.
